Had to go through my trash folder, but see I did get a code a few days ago. I only saw one book I wanted and the code got me 50% off.


A side question for Maria. It was your book I bought (Under Witch Aura) and I was wondering does Kobo take the hit for the 50% or do you (or do you split it)? One other question for you too. Why is it that books one and three in that series have DRM and books two and four don't? Kind of annoying.

I tried the code I got then removed the book from my cart when it didn't work. I've now have three emails inviting me to relook at the book. I figure eventually Kobo might get the hint that the codes are useless.

I'll check the drm on those. That is probably my fault for checking the wrong box or not unchecking it when I uploaded. If you are having problems with the DRM, PM and we can work it out.

This is an author sponsored promo. The authors in this event opt in and pay for the discount. Kobo does the promo work by sending out the codes/emails/putting notices on the front page.

Many times, kobo will test promos for a few times before offering the opportunity to authors and publishers. They pay for it while they are testing viability and enthusiasm. Once they offer it to us, we are generally paying for it, but we opt in. Some of the placement promos are paid for by authors or publishers (more often now than in the past).

There are some promos that Kobo pays for completely, but I'd say about half are author/publisher sponsored and some I simply don't know. I'm not sure who used to sponsor the contest coupons, but I always assumed it was the big publishers whose books were in the trivia contests. When they stopped or even changed, assumed that the sponsorship had ended--ie the publisher no longer wished to help pay for the cost of the trivia contests.

Let me go check on those drm boxes...

So after whining this morning about kobo restricting coupons to certain lists they suddenly sent me a one time 50% off coupon which could be used on any couponable book

Lately whenever kobo send a promo email I've been receiving 3 copies of it in the one inbox no idea why unfortunately though with this 50% off coupon I just received the one

I had a go at using it in two different kobo accounts in two different countries at the same time but they've really tightened that up so it just worked the once

That's fine. I was more curious than anything as it seemed odd that it alternated on what had DRM and what didn't.
