Very quick flash means it failed. It always reports success even when it fails. Make sure the battery is fully charged (charge 10 minutes, then do hard reset -- hold power button 30 seconds) then charge until green LED. Then try kubrick again.

Blu <<Update, 4/25>> Charged overnight, cannot get green light to come on. 30 second power button hold gives amber light, which stays on for a time (hours) whilest charging but at some point it turns off completely. I've done this twice so far. Last edited by BluPhant; 04-25-2016 at 07:28 AM. |

The light is controlled by the firmware . . . .
Is your firmware working properly? (no) Then should you trust the light? (no) |

@KNC1, I don't think that applies to me, as the system I'm using is not 64 bit.
As Kubruck appears to be the defacto best solution, I tried it on several different boxes (eldest still running XP) with same results; quick flash of root filesystem. So I went on, and tried ATK on an older laptop (Dell D830 running Win10/32bit), and it seems to be working; kernel flashed & maybe 25% of the way through root filesystem. Hopefully I'll be able to post a success report later today. Tnx all for help w/ this. -Blu |

It does have to use the hardware - And one thing that can give problems is if you have USB-3 ports. They are often not as compatible as claimed. |

Err, okay, what do you want/need Kubrick for, anyway?

i was wondering if it is possible to "replicate" the actions Kubrick does in case a paperwhite is still accessible in diags mode, in order to restore it to the factory state if the backups of the partitions was unavailable
