Sorry, but I think that outlet is to let you plug in your toaster oven to heat your tuna, not for charging the case

But you notice its GFCI. That's because the Oasis isn't waterproof and if it gets wet the charging needs to cut off.

You could also plug in the mixer to make the tuna casserole. Just don't forget the bananas.

See TubeMonkey -- your docking port doesn't have one of those.

The power transfer between the Oasis and case is via a proprietary connector with the 5 metal connectors you can see in the picture. That's confirmed by Amazon (I believe in the podcast that was talked about earlier) when they were saying it was a proprietary but they were open to licensing it to third parties with "interesting ideas" IIRC.

In answer to a different question, the magnets may hold the Oasis from dropping if you dangle it off the case (it's light), but it will depend a bit on the angles and if it drops open with weight etc (speaking from experience of a cracked MS Surface 3 that got way from me and left me holding just the keyboard when it flopped open )

What do you mean fake?
I thought the little battery charged the bigger battery so the charger could power other things.

For those who are worried about the half-cover on the back, I predict after-market decals for the bulge half. It will add a splash of color and if the decal is scuffed it can be replaced.

From the Product Page --

"Our thinnest and lightest Kindle ever--read even more comfortably for hours"

and

"New—Designed to feel as light as paper, Kindle Oasis is over 20% lighter and 30% thinner on average than any other Kindle. The handgrip tapers to an ultrathin 0.13” display so you can read comfortably for hours."

and

"Read More --- Charge Less"

and

"Longest Kindle battery life--the included leather charging cover boosts battery to last months."

and

"A single charge with cover lasts up to eight weeks, based on a half hour of reading per day with wireless off and the light setting at 10."

But I don't see anywhere on the page that gives an estimate of how long the battery in the Oasis itself can be used before recharging.

I suppose it's typical marketing speak but it's still misleading and sleazy.

The Oasis is two, two ereaders in one. In the current 4 Kindle lineup, it's the:

1st config -- lightest, second thinnest, shortest battery life --> wo/ cover

2nd config -- heaviest, tied for thickest, longest battery life --> w/ cover
.

ETA: You should be able to prorate the battery time for increased usage as long as you don't exceed about six hours of reading in a single session, which seems very reasonable to me.
And my Kindle 7 has a longer battery life than the Oasis
