But you notice its GFCI. That's because the Oasis isn't waterproof and if it gets wet the charging needs to cut off.

In answer to a different question, the magnets may hold the Oasis from dropping if you dangle it off the case (it's light), but it will depend a bit on the angles and if it drops open with weight etc (speaking from experience of a cracked MS Surface 3 that got way from me and left me holding just the keyboard when it flopped open )

What do you mean fake?
I thought the little battery charged the bigger battery so the charger could power other things.

But I don't see anywhere on the page that gives an estimate of how long the battery in the Oasis itself can be used before recharging.

I suppose it's typical marketing speak but it's still misleading and sleazy.

The Oasis is two, two ereaders in one. In the current 4 Kindle lineup, it's the:

1st config -- lightest, second thinnest, shortest battery life --> wo/ cover

2nd config -- heaviest, tied for thickest, longest battery life --> w/ cover

You get the longer battery life as long as you put the main unit back into the cover for a significant portion of the remaining 23.5 hours of each day. That doesn't seem very difficult.

ETA: You should be able to prorate the battery time for increased usage as long as you don't exceed about six hours of reading in a single session, which seems very reasonable to me.

And my Kindle 7 has a longer battery life than the Oasis
