OK But when they compare thickness I feel they should say it 8.5 Not 3.4 ... makes a Huge difference it you carry it in a pocket purse or ??? .... don't you think?

After just buying an Echo and a Dot, I was sure I would snatch up the new Kindle. But $289? Isn't Amazon aware that dedicated reading devices are becoming less popular? Maybe not with them. I paid over that for the original kindle, but at this point, I think $100 is the max price point for a dedicated ereader (for me). I bought the Fire 5, which fit within my price point, and even though it is kind of a pain, because I have to set bookmarks where I left off, I love the blue shade. I just never felt I could get the light right on the paperwhite (and it is kind of blue, isn't it.)

Pocket carry pretty much demands uniform thickness for better resilience. |

I liked the (p)review that called it an approximation of a deluxe version of a book, as compared to the ordinary trade version.

It appears as if the thinner portion of the back connects to the cover, making (initially) the button side on the right when removed from the cover for reading. Being left-handed, I would then have to turn it upside down every time prior to using it.
Nevertheless, it looks interesting to me, but I haven't had my Voyage long enough to justify buying another high-end Reader. Did someone mention that the light level is NOT automatic? If so, that's one of the things I really love about my Voyage - not having to fiddle around with that aspect at all. Last edited by Dr. Drib; 04-14-2016 at 01:37 PM. |

Day 2 and the Oasis has been removed from Amazon's front page scrolling banner. Why?

That's the stupidest reason for leaving out a feature that a lot of people want. 3g adds weight. So don't offer 3g and make it waterproof.
