Durability, first and foremost. From reading around here it seems that most readers fail due to cracked substrates.
If I'm not mistaken, only Sony has a commercial device.

Waterproofing shouldn't prove too difficult, but I'm not sure if they can offer a flexible substrate yet. Last I'd seen eInk was only making Mobius screens available in 13.3" for the big Sony device (& now the new Onyx & Netronix ones) and in a small sub 2" size for smart watches and stuff. Until eInk gets their Mobius screen manufacturing to where they're offering 6" screens in that format (& in quantity) it would seem we're stuck with Carta screens. Unless Amazon starts developing their own screens in a tech similar to eInk or moves to a different screen tech I think 300ppi Carta is the best available right now.

One interview I listen to the person said they Were NOT going to Add Water proofing cause it make the Kindle too heavy. So I don't see it ever happening.

It says in comparison. Voyage is 6.4" x 4.5" x 0.30"
(162 x 115 x 7.6 mm) Oasis is 5.6" x 4.8" x 0.13-0.33"
(143 x 122 x 3.4-8.5 mm).

So at thickest part (wedge edge) it is 8.5 mm thick, and on the other end 3.4 mm.

Which Kindle model is waterproof? If none, and Kindle is the best selling e-ink device, is the market really demanding waterproofing?

Aftermarket waterproofing is available, by the way.

I went to the site mentioned in that Gizmoto article (http://waterfi.com/waterproof-kindle). They want $240 for a Waterproof Paperwhite with no ads. That means the waterproofing is an additional $100.01 over Amazon's price. Steep, but Gizmoto says they do an amazing job of waterproofing. Well, not in those exact words....

How much extra? This new design forces you to use the heavy cover. How about designing the Oasis to have a uniform thickness, with most of the weight shifted to the wider bezel side for that special hand hold? The case would then be completely optional, thereby reducing the overall weight.

I was thinking that more LEDs might be considered premium, but if they are on the side instead of the bottom you have to have more or else it would look bad. The design is different, but I didn't think it would be called premium. So what's premium about this device?

So which of the things I listed do you think is not appropriate for an ereader? Better build materials, better resolution, better processor, more memory and more storage sure seems appropriate for an ereader.

It is for the waterproofing, but no idea what flexible would cost; since it isn't here yet.
