You're young then, or getting into the game late. We paid $399 for the first Kindles. And I think there were other brand devices before that, which I hadn't heard of.

True, though, that now that cheaper ones exist, it's hard to justify paying this much. I might still manage, on the ergonomics grounds, and my arthritis and fingertip sensitivity issues. though. Getting older isn't for sissies, apparently.

I'm not sure how this is confusing, especially since there is an accelerometer to auto-flip the UI when you switch hands. I'm actually glad that it seems like you can switch them in the settings too.

The even more confusing thing is that someone else quote from (I assume) a different user guide which says 'To page forward in a book, press the top button. To go back in a book, press the bottom button' which actually makes a bit more sense. It really looks like some user guides were not proofed before release. Way to go

And we have 2 possible interpretations for 'Note that your settings will apply even if you rotate your Kindle.'

I know, but I didn't buy one of those either. I was very happy when competition between Barnes & Noble and Amazon drove the price down to something I could justify (in my own mind) paying for an eReader. I wonder what the Oasis would cost if the Nook was still viable and Barnes & Noble was still innovating.

In that thread, it started with post 504 from Cinisajoy. The first mention of tuna came in post 510 from emellaich. From there, it went viral. It all took place in the last four pages.

Except that the Voyage, and the last kindles that HAD buttons, had the page forward on the bottom. So I would expect the manual to talk about forward being on the bottom, and then say that you could alter it to suit your preference.

As to the confusion about whether the buttons reverse when you flip the device over: the button which is EVENTUALLY on the top ought to do the function you told the "top" button to do. Not the same button as previously. Since they are assigning the function not to button A or B, but to the TOP button, when you flip the device there is a new TOP button. Seems logical to me, anyway. But apparently some are reading that differently.

Did you forget? The spring water springs out once the can is opened, leaving dry tuna behind. Make sure you open it in the sink.

"Due to popular demand, some configurations will ship after April 27th. See the latest shipping dates at checkout."

Really - I am a Kindle and gadget nut, but I cannot justify the UK price. It's crazy!

eVice is about right at this price!

I understand what you're saying but -- going by the manual's context -- I think it means the choice of which button (top or bottom) that move the pages forward, is what will be "applied" when rotated.

I could be wrong, but this is only way it makes sense.

That's how I understand it as well. If you set the "bottom" button to page forward, no matter how you hold the device, the "bottom" button will do that.
