This whole battery thing reminds me of when battery life magically doubled at some point several years ago (by going from reading for 1h a day to reading for 30 minutes a day in their estimates )

I love that in a way they were going back to what the initial idea was. When the kindle was designed for the reader and for the hand of the reader. Then they all got as flat and thin as tablets and phones. Its like we come full circle, just with much better specs.

My hands and wrists are asking for the Oasis.
I'm part of of the "bothered by the off center screen" group and if you want an old-looking-and-feeling "kindle" you should buy an Hanlin v6.. I don't know the exact model, here in Italy was rebranded as Telecom Biblet - with 3g and no touchscreen.

As for the Oasis, I keep my ereaders almost always with two hands and find it very easy and automatic to press the buttons outside the screen on each side..
I don't know what more to say.. For that price I'd buy a T-Boyue AND a new smartphone XP

According to this source, the screen is "now based on a much thinner, slightly flexible glass substrate to make it lighter and more resilient to mild bending and drops."

http://www.slashgear.com/why-is-kind...sive-13436179/

I don't know exactly what that means in practical use -- or whether SlashGear even knows this is true for certain, but there has to be some explanation for how much lighter the Oasis is then the Paperwhite or Voyage.

The article also mentions that ... It also required a significant change in how the electronics are wired, moving the connectors from the shorter edge to the longer instead: that meant Amazon could fit more LEDs, too, making the illumination brighter and more even.

So my guess that the Voyage would -- eventually -- get 10 LEDs also is probably not going to pan out.

Hmmm -- good point. The iPad eventually had to add a switch to turn that off.

@newkindlefun: Thanks for the battery time comparisons. So long as it's even better than the Voyage, I can't go wrong!

Other than the charging port and power button, there is nothing else to suggest a "default" orientation to it.

But yeah, you're right. One just can't argue with people who want to nitpick.

There will always be someone obstinate enough to insist that the power button belongs to the bottom, which would make this a left handed reader by default. And vice versa there will be obstinate people who insist that the power button belongs to the top, which would make this a right handed reader by default.

I'd hope that they'd think of that. Even my old Opus (2009), which also had page turn buttons on one side, had the option to turn it off.

Is there a problem about reading while charging? Or it depends on the Voyager?

The USA Today review says that if you shift from hand to hand and flip it, the screen rotates. I doubt the buttons change position though. If you have the bottom button set to "back" and the top button set to "forward", you'd want that to switch as well when you changed hands and flipped it over.

Thanks!

By the way, I also did a full factory reset of my Voyage, to give it more of that 'brand new' vibe.
