Reread Duncan's Bride (still vintage LH with one of the best heroines she's written). And about to start Kiss of Snow in my complete Psy/Changeling series reread.

Nora Roberts' new The Obsession is available for pre-order at Kobo South Africa for R 21,99 (about $1.70 after VAT). The Piatkus/UK edition doesn't release until April 14 (the Berkley/US edition releases April 12th).

Kobo pre-orders require a credit card, but the price may still be good come Thursday.

I'll probably just get the US edition because I had it in my book budget for the month (I used my Swagbucks to get a Kobo giftcard). Plus I tend to like Berkley's formatting more than Piatkus'.

But it's a good deal if you travel

I have a question for frequent ARe shoppers.
If they are doing a rebate and I pay with e bucks (bought with the groupon), will I earn the rebate or am I excluded from that? I seem to remember something about it not earning the rebate with that payment method.

Also, does anyone remember if they usually do some kind of rebate for RT?

If you use eBucks on a rebated book the rebate goes away and you will pay full price. They give you a warning and a chance to choose a different payment method first.

Don't remember the answer to your other question, but hopefully someone else does.

Thanks! That's a bummer and kinda unfair. The ebucks should be considered the same as any other payment. A disincentive to buy gift bucks for sure.
But at 60% off, the current Groupon deal is better than any rebate they've ever offered. I was just hoping to stack with a nice rebate.

You used to be able to use eBucks on rebated books. When ARe do rebates, you pay full price, but the rebated amount is given to you as eBucks.

So this is what happened:

1. I have $4.00 in eBucks.
2. I see a book that normally is $4.00, but it's on a 75% rebate today.
3. I spend my $4.00 eBucks on the book.
4. ARe gives me my rebate - I get $3.00 new eBucks.
5. I spot a book that is $3.00, but today has a rebate of 50%
6. I spend my $3.00 in eBucks, and get my rebate back. Another $1.50 in eBucks.
7. Yay for free books and free money!

And so on. Every time someone took advantage of the loop hole, ARe took a loss on the sale (over and over and over and over and...) and they were smart enough to realize that couldn't go on indefinitely. Since they sell DRM-free, I have no issue with them making sure they continue to make a profit so they can stay in business.
