As far as how often people change hands, it is only a tiny bit more awkward to flip the device as you switch hands as it is to simply switch hands.

So depending on how the device/cover ACTUALLY works, I could quite easily benefit from extended battery life and better ergonomics. That would clear nothing up for me. I'm not interested in being in the majority of Mobileread members' opinions on the Oasis.

what would make this new device a real break through?

as long as we are making things up, i'd like to add that this new device will have native support for epub format. this is not really needed as it's not difficult to convert via calibre. but it would be so very convenient. and while we're at it, it would also allow for customization of fonts as well as standby screen images...out of the box...no hacking necessary.

I'm still looking forward to holding one of these -- probably in a couple months at Best Buy. It is odd that, of all devices, an E-Ink device is the one that would go "green" and include a solar panel, but I don't see that as a negative. What would really be innovative is if someone could develop a dual-purpose screen. E-Ink display AND solar panel. Then you could use your Kindle to charge your phone (and whatever other device you might have lying around). Innovation is a good thing -- whether this design ultimately catches on or not. I'm going to go out on a limb and predict the next Voyage will also include the same number of LEDs as the Oasis (for example). I think some folks here keep forgetting that this device will be a third lighter than a Paperwhite. And, personally, I think most eReaders are too thin to hold comfortably -- so I see the "wedge" and wider bezel as a good thing. Like I mentioned before, the eReader I own that is most comfortable to hold is my Nook Simple Touch (which has wider bezels and is thicker). And most tools are not symmetrical. A hammer (for example) would be about impossible to use if it was. |

I wonder what its like to be an Amazon server at times like these: "Not another request for the Kindle page. It hasn't changed since you looked five minutes ago. Try searching for fishing tackle or laundry soap for something a little different."

Do they sell a separate liquid-squeezer-outer that will fit inside the can like the old removed lids did?
