Calibre not downloading metadata from Amazon
It's the old 1.48 portable version that runs on XP. It won't download metadata for any book from Amazon. What can I do about that? I've run multiple books multiple times on multiple domains. It gets metadata from elsewhere, but not Amazon.

Sticky: Why can't I install the latest calibre on Windows XP?
It lays out all the options. The easiest one is probably to use my WinXP-backports fork of the source code (option #3). Although I strongly encourage installing Linux Mint or some other Linux distribution. |

Thanks for the help and links. I just wanted to fix the Amazon metadata. The other options and backports and Linux sound good but I don't have that option right now as I only have non-admin rights on this computer and run Calibre off a USB drive.

Many Linux (Live CD transfer) will run from a USB Stick (it just needs the room for all your stuff and Linux. A 32 or 64G stick should work unless your Library is crazy huge)

None of it requires admin rights.
The backports can be used with an environment variable and downloading a source code ZIP. Linux is installed to the hardware, not from Windows ![]() Try the backports, it really isn't all that hard. |
