I wonder if the availability also depends on how many times a person has canceled and rejoined taking advantage of a promo offer.

The people who run the Homeschool Freebie of the Day website are offering free audios for very young children. Here's the blurb:
Give your kids an "ear tickle" and a smile!

Download our free Audio Goodies for Little Ears collection. It includes nine delightful classic audio stories & songs we guarantee your children will love!

Just fill out the form below and we'll email you the download link, and you can listen to your heart's content - easy peasy!

I haven't downloaded and listened to the audios myself, for the obvious reasons. A less obvious reason is the fact that I think that the offer is intended only for people who are not on their mailing list, but I am already on their mailing list.

So, I can't vouch personally for the quality of the audios. Usually Homeschool Freebie of the Day's stuff is older. But not everything old is all that bad (take me for example. ha). Too, their offerings seem to be always well-chosen and genuine classic-quality.

Here's the link to follow for the deal.

Please do everyone else a favor: if you download and listen to the audios yourself, post a message and let us know what you think about them. It might save someone some unnecessary downloading and keep them from being added to another mailing list.

That's a possibility that I hadn't thought of.

I can say that became a real member on a trial basis only once, but I am locked out from the offer as a LL member. But, it might hold true for those who aren't currently any kind of member at all.

I've only done one other offer during Christmas of last year. This would be my third trial though. First one was in 2011 when I joined and was a platinum member till 2014 then downgraded to Gold in 2015 but had to cancel a few months later. I did the 3 months for $3 during Christmas and cancelled in February and now today's 3 months for $0.

I've done it numerous times (around 10 or so). I've never paid more than $3.00 for a credit or a book. I sign up, spend my credits right away, then cancel before the promo ends.

You will lose them unless you sign up for the Listener Light Plan. That will cost you $10 per year.

Quote:
AudibleListener Light Plan -- is available only on an annual basis and only to Gold and Platinum Members who want to downgrade their plan type. AudibleListener Light Plan members do not receive membership credits but a Gold or Platinum Member converting to the AudibleListener Light Plan may have AudibleListener Rollover Credits that they can rollover when they downgrade. Audible will charge members who downgrade to the AudibleListener Light Plan the yearly plan fee each year on the yearly renewal date.

Quote:
Tucker's Way --> Tucker Series (book 1 of 4)

Whispersync: the Audible book is $1.95, if you own or borrow the Kindle ebook ($3.99)

After enduring a childhood of horrific abuse and crushing poverty, Tucker seeks refuge in her rural Tennessee home. The three grandchildren she is raising are her only connection to the outside, and her demeanor is purposefully rough. But her world is turned upside down when a new neighbor, Ella, moves into the old McDaniel place next door.

Ella seeks solace on the same country road after overcoming cancer. Although she is Tucker's peer agewise, she was raised in a world of privilege and opportunity. Still, Ella shares a tragic part of Tucker's experience - she also suffered abuse. Hers was at the hands of her husband, a prominent judge in the community and Tucker's sworn enemy.

When Tucker finds herself at risk of losing custody of her beloved youngest grandchild and worse, the child's mother is murdered, she draws support and strength from her new friendship with Ella. These two women from disparate backgrounds form a fierce bond, and they weather life's storms together with faith, love, and determination.

$3.99 -- Waterloo -- Bernard Cornwell/ multiple --> 8.9 hrs/ R-4.4 --> history
Quote:
Waterloo: The History of Four Days, Three Armies, and Three Battles

Whispersync: the Audible book is $12.99, if you own or borrow the Kindle ebook ($19.99)

From the New York Times best-selling author comes the definitive history of one of the greatest battles ever fought - a riveting nonfiction chronicle published to commemorate the two-hundredth anniversary of Napoleon's last stand.

On June 18, 1815, the armies of France, Britain, and Prussia descended upon a quiet valley south of Brussels. In the previous three days, the French army had beaten the Prussians at Ligny and fought the British to a standstill at Quatre-Bras. The Allies were in retreat. The little village north of where they turned to fight the French army was called Waterloo. The blood-soaked battle to which the town gave its name would become a landmark in European history.

In his first work of nonfiction, Bernard Cornwell combines his storytelling skills with a meticulously researched history to give a riveting chronicle of every dramatic moment from Napoleon's daring escape from Elba to the smoke and gore of the three battlefields and their aftermath. Through quotes from the letters and diaries of Emperor Napoleon, the Duke of Wellington, and the ordinary officers and soldiers, Cornwell brings to life how it actually felt to fight those famous battles as well as the moments of amazing bravery on both sides that left the outcome hanging in the balance until the bitter end.

Published to coincide with the battle's bicentennial in 2015, Waterloo is a tense and gripping story of heroism and tragedy - and of the final battle that determined the fate of nineteenth-century Europe.

Whispersync: the Audible book is $3.99, if you own or borrow the Kindle ebook ($1.99)

Sidney Chambers, the Vicar of Grantchester, is a 32-year-old bachelor. Tall, with eyes the colour of hazelnuts, he is both an unconventional clergyman and a reluctant detective. Working in association with his friend, Inspector Geordie Keating, Sidney is able to go where the police cannot, eliciting surprise revelations and confessions from his parishioners; whether it involves the apparent suicide of a local solicitor, a scandalous jewellery theft at a New Year’s Eve dinner party, or the unexplained death of a jazz promoter’s daughter. Alongside his inquiries, Sidney also manages to find time to enjoy cricket, warm beer, hot jazz, and the company of an attractive, lively young woman called Amanda.

Assuming this is a monthly and not annual account you can also put your account on hold (done easily on the website or by calling CS) for up to three months, provided you haven't done so in the previous 12 months, to maintain access to your credits. If it is an annual plan then listener light is the only option.

If you do put it on hold that gives you up to three months to get those credits used. Just remember that after three months the account will reactivate if you don't cancel it.
