Audio books

Can you listen to Audio Books with Calibre or is there any plans to have Calibre play audio files?

No plans. You can store them in calibre, but calibre cannot play audio files.

If the audio books are in standard audio formats (e.g. .mp3) then Calibre will send them out to the operating system to play.

The drawback is that, if they're split up by chapter, there's not really a way to have the audio book move on immediately to the next chapter once the previous chapter is finished. You would have to go back into Calibre and start playing the new chapter yourself.

Why not store a Playlist (eg M3u ) and send that instead? Takes care of the order and chainning

That's the way I do it with MediaMonkey and calibre. In addition it don't mess up the book library with huge audio files.
