Polish Books question

I have epub and azw3 versions of many books. I like the way the editor works with epubs so I do 99.9% with that format and convert to azw3. Is there a way to just polish the azw3 versions before I side load to my paperwhite, and just leave the epub as it is? I thought there might be an option in Convert to automatically run Polish on the converted copy, but I don't think so I know that there is a ORIGINAL_EPUB created, but I didn't see anyway to easily revert the polished EPUB back |

Dito. There is no shortcut to do this. As of today you need to do it book by book and format by format.

You can restore original version by simply right clicking in ORIGINAL_EPUB in the book details panel, or you can do it in bulk via the edit bulk metadata dialog.

Kovid, +1 It was my first thought with bulk metadata and I did not recognize this little line "Restore pre conversion originals, if available" |

Books sent to devices get the treatment on the fly. |

Thanks Both methods work fine (now if I can only remember them ) However, it would be nice if Preferences or Polish had a 'Only For These Types' setting or if Conversion had an option to run Polish on the output format. If I have a EPUB and AZW3 then Polish does 2x the work (since I only want the polished AZW3) Last edited by phossler; 04-03-2016 at 03:01 PM.

A lot (all?) of those settings have always been available in the conversion dialog...

The most important one that's missing (I couldn't see it) is the 'Remove unused CSS Rules" Admittedly this is a very minor issue since all the capabilities are available

I think you may be confusing 'Polish' and 'Embed Metadata'. AFAIK the latter (which is a subset of the former) is essentially what gets done when a format file (and not just EPUBs or AZWs) is sent to a device or saved to disk.

conversion removes all unused css anyway. There is literally nothing polish does that conversion does not do. The only reason polish exists is for those people that are afraid that conversion will mess up their books.

An advantage Polish has over Conversion is speed. BR |
