Just the reading location, unless you choose the option to (after a book is opened) have it back that book up to the cloud.

Thanks. That's super helpful. I don't have a large enough Dropbox account to sync everything but I can manage page locations. This is helping me to hone in on what setup I want to go with.

I should have checked into this sooner but does anyone know what the limit is for books uploaded to your Kindle account? I'm sure there is some limit but I don't know if it's number if books, total space allowed, if you can buy additional space, or if it's just free and unlimited. I realize the latter is unlikely but I suppose I can dream. Any info on this would really help. l suddenly realized that the idea of uploading to Kindle was entirely dependent upon the space allowed and I don't know what that is! Thanks so much!

This may allow me to altogether ditch my concerns about having to upload books to Kindle Personal Docs for easy sync. Awesome work, Kovid!! You're a freaking genius. |

Yes, it will allow syncing of last read position and all annotations, in general, eventually.
As for following its progress, you can always run the new server like this: calibre-debug --new-server -- --auto-reload /path/to/calibre/library/folder if you run calibre from source. However, the reader is nowhere near ready yet. I will make a beta announcement for calibre 3.0 when it nears completion, at which time people will be welcome to test it out and provide feedback. |

I've been glancing at it every now and then, and what I've seen is pretty nice.
![]() It looks like the server aspect is pretty well done by now. It's a lot fancier than the previous one, too. You're not kidding when you say the reader is nowhere near ready -- It seems to only show the cover, and right now not even that: Spoiler:
But it wasn't like I expected it to work -- it was funny though to see it reprimand me for having "upgraded" calibre. |

That particular error is now fixed. As for the state of the reader, it should be able to show you an entire book, though currently only in flow mode, not paged mode. And you have to use the mouse wheel or arrow keys to scroll -- no support for taps/swipes yet.

Now it seems to be looping weirdly through the first two "chapters"...
