FREE! Three Ethnic Cookbooks by Highly Rated Author, Plus a Bonus Baby Food Cookbook.
A small publisher called BookSumo is offering three "cultural" (i.e., ethnic) cookbooks, in a "box set," free. All you have to do to get them/it is to give your name and email address and agree to be put on their mailing list.

Being put on their mailing list doesn't seem like such a bad thing, as they state that by doing so "you will get updates on when books are listed for free."

You might be interested in knowing the titles of the free books in the box set. They are Easy Samosas & Pot Pie, A Kitchen in Morocco: Classical Moroccan Recipes, and The Biryani Bash: A Collection of the Most Unique Biryani Recipes. There are over 90 recipes in total. All of these books are by Umm Maryam. I had never heard of her before, but I notice that she has a slew of cookbooks for sale on Amazon and it looks like all of them are highly to very highly rated.

You might be able to find the offer on any number of BookSumo's webpages, but I found this offer at this webpage. Scroll down about one third of the way down the webpage to see the offer.

BONUS: As I was finishing up this post, I noticed that BookSumo also offers a free baby food cookbook, The Organic Baby: 35 Unique, Easy, and Organic Recipes to Promote Healthy Growth and a Mature Palate in Your Baby, by Elizabeth Catherine Alllan, at the present time. Go to this webpage and scroll down almost all of the way to the bottom of the page to see the clickable thumbnail image of the cover.

UPDATE: I just got in my email the link to the three books. The books are in black and white. There are no photographs. The formatting is very simple and basic. These things do not bother me, but they might you. Just so you'd know.

I also think that murg intended it to be funny. It's really straining the neurons and synapses in my brain, but I oh so vaguely remember the stone soup story. It was a fable--more like a folk tale--about a soup that started out with just one stone. Seems like the woman making it couldn't afford even to make soup. But people contributed this and that (good ingredients) to where it finally became a delicious soup.

I remember Mom and my grandmothers' buying "soup bones" from the butcher, for this purpose. Perfectly legit animal bones; no cannibalism involved.

More or less, yes. Everyone had a few veggies or odd bits of meat, piled together with a lot of water, it made soup to feed them all.

(and, if you know that people used to heat water and cook by adding hot stones to water, the story makes even more sense).
