@jhowell: I am not Mac guru enough to give you command line, but if I'm understanding correctly, the directory is:

Mac > Applications > Kindle Previewer 3 > Contents > MacOS > lib > fc > lib > EpubToKFXConverter-1.0.jar

Earlier in this thread, baf posted the command line he used to do the conversion on the Mac here. This worked on my Mac.

Kindle Previewer 3.app typically installs in /Applications

Path to the bundled jre is here:
"/Applications/Kindle Previewer 3.app/Contents/lib/fc/jre/"

Path to where the jars are found is here:
"/Applications/Kindle Previewer 3.app/Contents/MacOS/lib/fc/lib/"

Let me know if you need more info.

I am now looking for a volunteer to help debug the KFX conversion output plugin.

I need a Mac user who has the Kindle Previewer 3.0 beta installed and is familiar with using calibre to convert books from one format to another. This will require manually installing a beta test version of the plugin that I will send via PM on Mobileread, trying it to convert a specific book to KFX using it, and reporting back to me on the results or errors produced via PM. It will probably take several iterations to get it working.

I'd like to work on this with a just one person to avoid a lot of back and forth on the forums. Once it is working I will make the plugin available in the calibre plugins forum.

I'll send the beta test plugin to the first person who indicates their interest in helping.

As an update on the KDP "Ask the Community Forum" -- as I've noted here, any mention of KFX was getting modded, so I began calling it Kindle Format Ten. Now that gets modded, too, and the post never appears. The other day the mod-bot evidently slipped up and let my post through for at least a moment, because someone replied to it. His reply was posted, along with two later comments, but here's the thing: though there's a link to my post in his, it leads nowhere.

I am now calling it The Format That Must Not Be Named. I'll be interested in seeing how long that lasts!

I suppose I could also call it K*F*X, since other forbidden words like description will pass the mod-bot when spelled something like des*cript*ion.

I admit I haven't tested it--but this makes NO sense. Why the hell would the modbot be censoring this? I don't disbelieve you, don't misunderstand me, but...what the hey?

Why don't we just call it the TX format? As in, Advanced TypoXraphy?

I dunno, what the hell. Call it SEX. STX. Whatever. I just don't get the WHY of why they would mod that? It's bizarre.

It's happened multiple times, and it's invariable. Of course it may happen only to me (because I talk too much?). At first I could use the term KFX. When that started getting modded, I could get away with Kindle Format Ten. Now that too is modded, and I am successfully using The Format That Must Not Be Named.

I've noticed that not only can't I use "description" in a post, but if I REPLY to a thread that has "description" in the TITLE, that post too will be moderated (and, I think, disappear forever). Others do not seem to have that problem.

I was curious if you'd gotten your guinea pig, yet?

Unfortunately I'm crazy strapped for time right now, but I want to make sure that your researches and exploits aren't hindered at all. You're the only one who's been able to do anything effective with this format so far...

I was wondering the same thing. I'm not as technically adept as others here, and I'm a bit short on time (which will hopefully ease up shortly), but I'd be willing to do what I can if there isn't a more worthy Mac tester available

At this point I have decided to just release the plugin and deal with problems as they come up. It will take a day or so to get it ready.
