I am able to use my MC directly. I have my normal US address, including 5 digit zip/postal code, entered as payment info, and just have the country set to India. Somehow that has worked for a long time - fingers crossed that it continues to work!

Okay, so Kobo is having what it's calling a Super Sale (well in AU and NZ anyway!). Up to 70% off and 5 x super points. Unfortunately with Kobo one can't quite determine whether the price is different from the norm or not, and certainly of the two books I tested one was the same price at Amazon and the other was over $1 dearer at Kobo than Amazon.

For those that buy in India, how does the currency format work? A book I am looking at costs R88,89 but I'm having trouble converting that to USD due to the apostrophe. When I use the apostrophe on xe.com, it cant work it out. But if I replace the apostrophe with a period, the converted amount doesnt seem like enough. Unless the book is just much, much cheaper in India.

Chapter One just use the period, eg 76.10. I convert to AUD.

I checked a few. Not only were they the same price at Amazon, but at Amazon they carried the tag: "This price was set by the publisher ."

Cromag I highly suspect that Kobo's 'up to x%' specials start from 0%. So, up to 70% means from 0% to 70%.

Interesting 'trivia': last night I was surfing the Kobo India store to see if anything caught my eye price- and content-wise. I ended up buying a non-fiction book called the Hindus (helped by a 20% discount on the first page here - I still miss the 90% days!). Today, I discovered that this book is actually banned in India! Online sales certainly do bring another dimension to governments' attempts to control what people can read...

Sufue has reported in another thread that a great number of the ebooks that she looked at, (Mystery/Thriller genre), were the same price at Amazon UK; and I've also compared some with Kobo India and found that India was cheaper again.

So, if you are interested in any of the titles you may find something of interest at the right price .....
