I'm wondering if Kobo has stopped issuing codes? Has anyone received a code during the last two weeks or so? (That is unique codes, not anniversary etc codes)
The codes did need an overhaul because of the volume that didn't work, so that could be what kobo are doing, or? |

I just received a code on Friday to replace my it-never-worked contest code from January. I had to send multiple emails and have 2 chats but they sent it.
They actually increased the code amount by 10% too. ![]() This is the longest I've ever had to wait to get an issue resolved there. Maybe I've been lucky, but I've never NOT had them resolve an issue to my satisfaction...eventually ![]() Anyway, I hadn't checked my email over the weekend and was pleasantly surprised to see it. And have the code actually work ![]() |

Between this and Amaryllis's issue I wonder if they had some revamp of their cust serv dept, and decidedly NOT for the better.

I got a we missed you 90% off code late last week. Same code they've sent me twice before that didn't work either time and same link to a list of books to use it on, most of which are not eligible for coupons at all.

I got a 90% coupon this morning that actually worked so that was really exciting. I've noticed that when I get 90% coupons that don't work it's because *I* have used it before on one of my other accounts so I don't blame Kobo for that.
Here is a 50% come back code I received last week. It expires tomorrow. I think it works. UW7PZT |

But if the code's already been used, even if not on the account it was e-mailed to, Kobo should not have sent it to you again. That flawed system is all on Kobo.
Receiving 90% codes — or any high-value codes, for that matter — used to be downright exciting. Now I'm just cautiously optimistic at best about the chances any of them will actually work. |

I haven't gotten any codes from Kobo for a while either. My balance of purchases has definitely switched from Kobo to Amazon, and since the price match sounds really like a hassle (at least for many folks), I'll probably keep buying much more from Amazon until either Kobo gets more competitive prices or they start issuing codes again that can be used to make them competitive. I still check both before buying, but only very very rarely does Kobo have the better price.

I've counted roughly equal numbers of "easy success" and "terrible hassle" when it comes to Kobo's price matching here. And given that message boards in general collect negative stories, not positive ones, I'm willing to bet that the silent majority is, in this case, in Kobo's favour.
Although Kobo's price match is in credit, not $, its still an incentive to be competitive. I'm glad they have it. |

Hi, this question may have been answered before but does anyone know the time frame for receiving your $10.00 credit after your referred friend purchases a book?

When I did it with a 5 dollar credit in the running, I couldn't even tell it was there until I put a book in the cart and it said I owed 2 dollars and x cents. That's when I Figured out I had a credit! (the book was about 7 dollars). Your mileage is gonna vary. This is kobo.

I have finally received a positive response from Kobo CS. They HAVE issued me a refund. The reason they have given for all the issues are that I did not quote the correct receipt number, and that they could not find the book in my library until I sent screenshots. Since I only bought the one book for the purposes of testing the price match, not sure how that is possible, but I won't say they are wrong since I'm human and not infallible.
I will say though, that I can't figure out the math on the refund. The list price of the book was 16.19. With taxes, it came to 18.29. At amazon, the book is 9.99. They have refunded me 7.20. I don't get 7.20 as the price difference + 10% using either the list price or the price including taxes. There have been so many reports of positive experiences, and given they say the error was mine in quoting an incorrect receipt number, I will probably try a price match again, just to see if my difficulties this time around were simply a one-off or due to my error. |

I haven't got the energy to try the price matching but in my case my Kobo buying has increased since I joined the VIP program. The first year cost of the program was effectively zero because I joined when the program itself was discountable and the list of available free books to choose from actually had a book I'd been planning to buy anyway.
Before the VIP program my default place to purchase was Amazon; I only bought at Kobo when the price available to me (taking into account any available discount codes) was lower at Kobo. Now my default is Kobo. For the agency publishers the price is the same but with Kobo I get points, so advantage Kobo. With other publishers the price is often the same but with Kobo I get the automatic VIP discount plus points so again advantage Kobo. The only time I go with Amazon is for books where Amazon has been able to set the price and the price is lower than Kobo's price-with-VIP-discount. I do miss the days of insanely valuable discount codes though. |

Having gotten bored with no Kobo coupons to speak of recently, I decided to go traveling...
(Note: for links to show these editions you need to already be in the Kobo India store) If you are able to travel to India, here are some interesting mystery finds (to me, at least): Robert Barnard - seven titles under R 101, which corresponds to about Us $1.50, with three at about $0.75. Some of these have been inexpensive for a while, but four were new to me as inexpensive titles in India. Kindle US prices on three of those four were all over $10. link: https://store.kobobooks.com/en-us/se...&sort=PriceAsc A gazillion (very technical term ![]() link: https://store.kobobooks.com/en-us/se...&sort=PriceAsc I think someone mentioned these before quite a while ago, but... There are two omnibi of Travis McGee books by John D MacDonald - books 1-3 and books 4-6. These are R 440 each, which works out to about US $6.60 for each set of three titles, or $2.20 per book if you need all three in the set. The individual Travis McGee titles range from R 279 to R 315, or about US $4.20 to $4.70. These are more expensive, but still way better than the $11.99 for most individual titles at Kindle US. There are also a bunch of other inexpensive non-series titles for R 101 (approx US $1.50) or less, such as Bullet for Cinderella (which is inexpensive pretty much everywhere), Clemmie, Judge Me Not, All Those Condemned, The Empty Trap, Weep for Me and a bunch of others. I've had trouble getting a "clean" link for all of these, but if you poke around, you can find a bunch. The link below is for the Travis McGee titles. link: https://store.kobobooks.com/search?Q...d+travis+mcgee Similarly for the Inspector Lynley books by Elizabeth George, there is an omnibus of titles 1 - 4 for R 608, or about US $9.10 (approx $2.25 each if you need all four), and then individual titles range from R 297 to R 344 (except the newest title), or about US $4.45 to $5.15. Expensive, but still a lot less than Kindle US prices, mostly ranging from $8 to $12. link: https://store.kobobooks.com/en-ca/se...a-7fc9a1db7ac8 (Again, I have some vague memory that someone might have mentioned this a loooong time ago...) A bunch of Elizabeth Peters titles at R 212 (about US $3.20) and some for more. There are multiple editions of many at different prices so look carefully before you buy. The Amelia Peabody series tends to range $9 - $10 at Kindle US; other series, such as Vicky Bliss (actually my favorite) and Jacqueline Kirby tend to be less expensive, so check carefully. link: https://store.kobobooks.com/en-ca/se...&sort=PriceAsc A Little Murder is by Suzette A Hill is R 101 - about US $1.50. link: https://store.kobobooks.com/en-us/ebook/a-little-murder Anyway, I guess I'm not bored anymore... Oh yeah, and I had no trouble checking out in Kobo India with my normal no-int'l-fee credit card (a MasterCard). |
