Darn! I got all excited thinking I could pick up a bunch of Open Road's recently issued Frances and Richard Lockridge/Mr and Mrs North titles, but this sale is only from a short list of maybe 20 - 30 titles in mystery, presumably similar length in other categories (too lazy to do an exact count). There are some pretty good titles in there, but it's not an unlimited Open Road sale.

Also looks as if VIP pricing doesn't apply to the $9.99 - I didn't actually complete a purchase, but put three titles in my cart, and took it all the way to right before the final button push, and it stayed $9.99, with no VIP discount on top. Not totally surprised.

Still fighting with Kobo for my price match on one book. It amounts to about $10 for me, so I keep at it. At their request, I sent them a screen shot of the receipt for my purchase of the book. Their reply to this was that they were still denying my price match because there was no evidence of the book in my library. Say what? I am in the middle of reading the book on my kobo device, and it is in my library on my kobo app, and very visible in my purchase history on the kobo website, but "We are not seeing the *insert book title* in your purchase history,"
This book, with taxes, cost me 18.29 on kobo, and on amazon is 9.99. There are several others in this series that I would like. But no way will I be buying them from Kobo if this is the hassle I have to go through each time with CS to get the price matched. I'm starting to think it would be cheaper and easier for me to go buy a kindle device and switch to amazon.

I'm so sorry you're dealing with all of this. The best thing I can suggest is to start a new claim and get assigned to a new CS agent and hope you get an intelligent person.

Oh Amaryllis this is an absolutely ridiculous situation!!

I saw Zelda's response, and I might suggest another action as well ..... take a screen shot of your purchase history showing the book, and take a screen shot of the My Library page showing the book. If they are too silly to accept either of those bits of obvious reality then I suggest you either/or go to Twitter/Facebook .....

At least your book really *is* there. One of my purchases actually has completely disappeared from my purchase history.

What's being sold on the website now is a slightly different cover and slightly different title than what I have, though same ISBN--I have a feeling it got updated and with the title change something didn't transfer. Of course it's one iI don't seem to have kept the receipt email for.

Fortunately I have a backup, because it's so not even worth hassling with them over it. Yet another reason to be done with Kobo, though. Weighing whether a purchase is worth the inevitable hassle should never be part of the equation.

This is so completely opposite my experience and the experience others have reported. It makes me think that someone saw how much price matching was being done and told everyone to put the brakes on.

Since the refund is a credit, giving it to you means you'll still be spending it at Kobo. Not giving it to you means that you never trust price matching again and just shop elsewhere. Not to mention, that your word of mouth will mean others also stop bothering with price matching and shop elsewhere too.

I know I only asked for price matching when I saw how well it went for others. Now hearing this, I'm not sure I want to risk it again. Since I have both a Kobo and a Kindle, it really doesn't matter much to me. I like the Kobo better, but not that much better.

I've done both actually. I sent them a very strongly worded response, and I included screenshots of my receipt (showing both book title & receipt #), a screenshot of it in my library, a screenshot of it in my library list on kobo, and a screenshot of it in my purchase history at kobo. We'll see how long that takes. The first time I sent a screenshot, I was guaranteed a response in 48 hours. It took them a week.

And I agree - I will be most reluctant to try price matching again after this rigmarole.
