May I, out of pure curiosity, ask, how you come to be able to do it? Are you working in metals? Is it a cast or are you milling it?

As for a digitizer, it has previously been mentioned in this thread that Wacom digitizers work, though only a particular kind, I take it. My large "Intuos" dgitizer does not work but the ones used for tablets (Bamboo?) are said to work iirc. Better check a few pages back before ordering one, I'm not a 100% sure.

Hi Manday,

Thanks for the pen advice <:
Regarding the cover, I am a metal working engineer by trade and putting a newer, lighter-weight cover then the wooded one I previously made. I don't have any pictures of it yet as I haven't gotten very far yet. Been busy at work. Regarding making you one, I might be able to but honestly it couldn't happen till early summer. Probably not your ideal time frame. Sorry, I am just finishing up a 3 year contract over the next month and busy.

Did so far appeared any improvement in the firmware, like the ability to display anything else than PDF, like ePub?

Or has it been broken to allow (unauthorised wise) extra functions?

Just found this thread. It has probably already been discussed so please excuse the intrusion. But is it possible to run KitKat on the Sony? If you want the Office4Android apps to run I believe you need KitKat and this device would be perfect for writing with text outdoors.

Also, on a different note, does anyone have opinions on the "Sony Digital Paper on Steroids" that has launched on IndieGoGo?

Lots of discussion in above thread. The info specifically on the device you are inquiring about is at the end, but probably worth at least skimming the 1st part of the thread since there is relevance there.

The folks behind that Indiegogo campaign can't be trusted to deliver the goods.

I've just spent an inordinate amount of time trying to fix a syncing problem using Box, and discovered that Box occasionally arbitrarily requires a catchpa for WebDAV access, which you have to pass by logging into your box account via the web browser in order to allow syncing via WebDAV. After multiple reboots and resets and typing in my account details more times than I care to think about via the onscreen keyboard, at least I've restored syncing... Just a PSA for those who are having sync failed issues.

There is an earlier post stating that it is possible to put a standard version of Android capable of running applications on the DPT-S1. Not sure which version it is though. My understanding is that you would need to send the hardware to China to do it.

so that they can copy the DPT-S1 and bring their own worse device ;-) Like always in China.

Very much appreciate the info and input. I'm always a bit apprehensive about crowd funded devices, it just a lot more complicated than people realize. But on paper it certainly appeals.

Ordered my DPT-S1 today. Curious waiting begins.....
Pocketbook isn't able to build their CADreader (this year: ETA unknown, but was expected last year) so I have to buy a Sony DPT-S1.

via wifi, a web dev source such as box.com is needed.
pixel density is 150 ppi, which corresponds to 1200 x 1600 resolution for the screen size of 8" x 10.67".

Yesterday I got my DPTS1.
Incredible device!

Just 2 questions:

1: I got some some strange tips for the stylus.
See photo attached. Are these ok?

2: What if the battery of the device fails?! Is there a spare part or Sony repairservice?
