Ah-ha, that new fangled Dropbox thing - not sure I ever downloaded executable software from it.

I still don't understand why you couldn't get it from the official calibre vault. I often have cause to grab old versions for support reasons. I never have any trouble downloading from it. But... I never auto-execute when a d/l finishes, always been suspicious of that. Nor do I wait for downloads... there's always something else to do

FWIW I do use a download manager whenever I can, which is most everywhere I go MR is one of the few places I can't

I said dropbox, but I didn't mean Dropbox dropbox. Ooops. My bad. I meant a drop-down menu.

I did pull the file in from the official site, but was having troubles as explained at the top. It was from one of these other download sites that I got a second copy. Same name, same size. That's when I said "Screw it!" and just kept hitting load or run or exe or whatever it was until it finally gave in and gave me the calibre install window. Still had troubles, but then kept pounding on the RETRY button until it finally gave in and installed.

I have no idea why both of my computers would do this, but they did. Whew!

Are you downloading (save file), then installing or trying to install direct from the Calibre (online) site?

I always download (I also keep the previous GOOD version...just in case )

Always download and save. This gives me a copy should things go south down the road. I don't install from a site if I can help it. I like to let my anti-virus run a scan on it just in case.

It's all good now.
