When reporting problems, always include at least one story URL that exhibits the problem and the failure message you receive.
Ideally, you'd also include the log from running calibre in debug mode while trying. (Under Calibre Preferences drop down.) Thanks. |

Hello everyone!
I have a new issue and hope you can help me again. ![]() I have downloaded a story from potionsandsnitches: A Soldier Without a Purpose It downloaded well, but once I transferred it onto my ebook reader (Sony PRS-T1) I got this: story cover, front page (with summary, tags, etc.), then the story starts - that's standard. What is unusual is that the text shows like this: Spoiler:
I didn't look how far this goes on. There seems to be an odd spacing between the paragraphs throughout the story, though - like a double line-break, instead of a single one. When I open the story in calibre, I can see the whole text, although again with the odd spacing. My FFF settings have 'intelligent punctuation' checked (the setting above 'Calculate Word Count'). I have know this issue from stories which I downloaded from walkingtheplank.org (that was about two or three years ago). I don't remember clearly what I did then, but I think that it was okay usually, when I downloaded them a second time (by overwriting? not sure). I can't say which stories those were, though. Is this an issue of my Sony? Or is it something that Calibre/FFF can help solve? I hope you can help me again. Thank you! |

I also noticed that they changed the author link so FFF wasn't finding it. The rest of the metadata looks good to me, but I don't read that site. So please review and report an additional problems. New test version posted (direct link). 2016-03-04 - Fixes for quotev.com, author and chapter list. |

There are both <p> tags around paragraphs and <br> tags between them. This story is a case that could be improved by setting replace_br_with_p: true in personal.ini. |

Hmm...
One of my stories (https://forums.sufficientvelocity.co...s-rehost.3509/) is no longer updateable. The reason for this is it seems the author implemented threadmarks after using index type post for the last 500+ snips.. And he only thread marked about 32 and then.. Well I'm guessing he gave up. So my 500+ chapter epub doesn't want to update down to 32 chapters. And rightly so! ![]() Now I know the "recent" addition of these xenfollo forum plugins prioritize threadmarks first, and then index post otherwise. Is there any way to override this or change it on a per story basis? Also there was a story or two that I followed that didn't do either of these, most notably the ones in the story archive that are story only posts. No index or threadmarks but every post is the story. |

Thanks for this excellent plugin, it helped me a lot with saving stories locally.
I have a request though. For other sites, ratings metadata is collected, but for Literotica stories there seems to be no rating collected. Is it possible to get the story rating for Literotica? |

Hello Jim!
I don't have either of the settings in my personal.ini, but will use the third option (replace_br_with_p: true) from now on. Hopefully that will stop the 'lost' paragraphs from happening. Thank you! ![]() ----- Update: I added the setting replace_br_with_p: true and deleted the old ebook and downloaded it againg (just to be sure, because in addition I have problems with the replace_metadata in this story). Then I have uploaded the story onto my reader. It has the exact same passages missing. I don't know what's wrong. So, I am uploading the complete personal.ini and the ebook and hope that's something fixable. I appreciate any help, as always. Last edited by firefoxxy; 03-05-2016 at 11:25 AM. Reason: Update |

Also, is it possible to organise the summaries in multi-chapter stories in number mode like, 1. , 2. , 3. , and so on instead of just ' / ' ? |

There isn't a good way to deal with those right now. I'll look into it again now that [storyUrl] sections are a thing. |

To the best of my knowledge, Literotica stories don't have ratings. If I'm wrong, please provide a couple story URLs that show it. (And tell me where as I haven't see it.) You could add this to your personal.ini to set a default rating for all Literotica stories. Code:
[literotica.com] default_value_rating:MA |

I believe FFF collects 'star' for one site (actually labeled 'Frogs' on the title page), but I don't think there currently are numeric ratings for any others. I don't read literotica, so I'm not familiar with it's organization. Can you provide a concrete example with story URL(s) of what you're talking about? Okay, that's embarrassing... You were right: When I just looked into my personal.ini it wasn't there. So I copied replace_br_with_p: true into my personal.ini. I closed it, opened it again because I was not sure if I might have closed the settings by escape instead of clicking ok. And it was there. Then I deleted and re-downloaded the fic. I opened the ebook, again it had the odd spacing. I went back to my personal.ini - and the replace_br_with_p: true line was gone.
![]() I closed and restarted calibre. Added the setting once more, restarted, and re-downloaded the story again. It worked. Thank you. ------ I don't want to spam the forum, so I'll add this here, too. Sorry for being such a bother. The replace_metadata is not working well for this story and I can't figure out what the problem is. While it does change Canon Snape and Injured Snape correctly it doesn't work with Depressed Snape, Colleague Snape and Harry, Snape Equal status to Harry. I tried using category instead of genre, but that didn't help either. The rest is the same as in the personal.ini above. Spoiler:
Thank you for having a look. Last edited by firefoxxy; 03-05-2016 at 12:57 PM. Reason: 2nd part added |
