West Texas Tex-Mex is different from East Texas Tex-Mex. I meant the ingredients.

Being an ardent lover of Erle Stanley Gardner's novels, I have started re-reading the Bertha Cool and Donald Lam series, written under pen name 'A.A. Fair'. Recently finished Gold Comes in Bricks and Turn on the Heat. Now heading for Double or Quits. After having wandered for many months in the jungle of books by so many different authors, I feel very homely with Erle's books.

Which was good fun. I'm not sure we'll get any more in this series, but this book reaches a fair conclusion without too many loose ends hanging, so that's OK.

Next: Grantville Gazette #64 (March 2016) edited by Bjorn Hasseler. From one of my oldest purchases to one of my newest!

Wow - Grantville Gazette has been going for thirteen years now!

Read and finished The Light of the Fireflies by Paul Pen (Author), Simon Bruni (Translator); one of this months Kindle First offerings. Good story, suspensful but without the usual death on every third chapter kind of thing.

Now I am working on another autobio: Girl in a Band or something like that by Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth fame.

I chose that one as well. Glad to hear it's worth a read.

Better than Moving Pictures and very good overall although not quite as good as some, who would have imagined that Death could be such a great character?

I started Orphan X by Gregg Hurwitz on Thursday which is a recently released conspiracy/vigilante thriller. Orphan X is based on an Equalizer or A-Team type vigilante hero (special ops/fugitive doing good and saving those who need help.) So far it has been good and is supposed to be the start of a series.

Edit: Orphan X was a good read, not a major cliffhanger at the end which is also good since who knows when the next one will be out.

Next up: The Night Life of the Gods by Thorne Smith unless one of my other holds comes in from the library.

This morning I finished reading Concealed in Death by Nora Roberts writing as J. D. Robb. It's #38 in the series (of 42 so far, 2 more titles & release dates have been announced). I plan to catch up in the next month or so.

Now reading Fool Moon by Jim Butcher -- Dresden Files #2. So far, so good.

Thanks for the pointer. Sounds like my kind of thing.

Currently reading an Amazon Prime freebie, The Last Girl (The Dominion Trilogy #1) by Joe Hart. First in a trilogy, it is a YA dystopian novel about a world in which female babies stop being born, or only one in several million, and the chaos that ensues.

Just finished The Magician's Land by Lev Grossman, the third book in the Magicians trilogy, and a pretty great way to wind it up.

Next up is The Quiet War by Paul McAuley, which I understand is a solar-system SF novel, about the politics of the various outposts and colonies. It's a book I've been meaning to read for way too long, but kept putting off, and I've decided it's finally time.

I dipped into I Am Princess X earlier today, since (a) I was away from home, (b) I had my iPad but no wifi access, and (c) it's a fixed-format EPUB3 that only works on my iPad, so it was already loaded.

I've only gotten into the first three chapters or so, but it's a neat idea. Two early-teen girls create a character - Princess X - and make up stories about her (one writes, one draws), the artist dies, and the archived material vanishes. Three years later, the writer sees a Princess X sticker on a window. Then she finds a website with information only the two of them knew...

I've met the author a few times, and it's neat to see oblique references to common landmarks. For instance, the book mentions a coffee shop called "Black Tazza" - and although I never went there, enough of my friends did that I know there's a coffee shop downtown named Cafe Tazza. Cherie may have moved it and tweaked the name for the book, but I'm confident that's no coincidence...

Finished the Kim Gordon memoir, Girl in a Band, now reading something I've been sitting on a while: Please Don't Tell My Parents I'm a Supervillian by Richard Roberts. I'm hoping the read will be as fun as the title.
