5.6.5 Jailbreak (closed-kindle) -- released! - Page 55

I have read all the posts for 5.6.5 jb.
I have tried to JB a brand new PW3 (arrived 1hour ago) with 5.6.5 using the http://kindlefere.com/jb/ method.
when I go to stage 2 it always gives me application error.
I am a bit confused because there were some posts saying that on PW3 (2015) it was only possible using serial, but here i saw some success stories.
Currently I have the device on airplane mode and it will be until I JB it.
Any ideas on what could be the problem?

Check the dates of those posts.
Notice that they pre-date the release of the software closed Kindle jail break?

We can not give you advice when all you tell us is: "It doesn't work".
Tell us instead what you are doing (key pressed, etc) and what is the result.

Most often made error with your result:
Failure to put the file named: jb at the root of the visible usb storage (right alongside the /documents directory).

The jail break is posted as an archive named: jb.zip -
Open it (that is: un-zip it) -
Inside the archive you will find a directory (a.k.a: folder) named: jb -
Inside the directory you will find a file named: jb -
Put that file named jb at the root of the visible usb storage.
NOT the jb.zip archive.
NOT the directory named jb.
Just the file named jb, nothing else.
Then follow the directions.

@catharsys: Did you fist copy the "jb" file (extracted from the zip archive) to your PW3?

Somehow i misunderstood the instructions and instead of putting the jb file i decompressed the zip to a folder called jb.

You are not the first to make that mistake.

A few hours after BD posted the jailbreak archive, he menitoned that the choice of names had probably been a mistake.

Tryed to install the Update_mkk-20141129-k5-ALL_install.bin but it's greyed out the update.

try the 'hotfix' - since you can't, at the moment, run MrPI to do that install.

Note that it is mention right at the top of the directions:

Once you've installed NiLuJe's bridge as per the directions, and your Kindle reboots, the MKK will will be installed.

Hi all! Got a couple of questions. I have a PW3 with special offers running 5.6.5 (french language).

1: Can I jailbreak it even though it has special offers?
2: Can I use custom screensavers even with special offers?
3: Once I jailbreak it, what program do I use to block it from auto-updating afterwards?

So, if after the jb the kindle auto-updates to 3.7.xxxx firmware it will still be Jailbroken ?

Firmware versions never decrease. There will never be a "3.7.xxx" firmware update for any device that currently runs firmware 5.x.

Sorry, what I meant is that if I have a jb 5.6.5 device and it auto-updates to 5.7.2.1 will the jabilbreak survive?
