Convert Bible in Dictionary for verses to popup when highlighting?

Hello everyone. (If this post is in the incorrect place please let me know)

I'm a christian, and I hope this post don't offend anyone. I'm just looking for some help.

I was wondering if it is possible to create a Dictionary form of book (like the default Oxford Dictionary or similars) from the Bible verses in order to get a verse to popup whenever I highlight a verse when reading my books which quotes the Bible several times.

* Is it possible to do this w/o hacking the Kindle? (I have a PW3, btw)
* Or is the only way, a hack form?
* Is it possible to add it as another tab in the popup or to mod the Wikipedia feature (like a tab inside the dictionary popup next to the translate) and send the query to an online Bible website such as biblegateway instead?

I appreciate any guidelines.

- JJ

I'm a bit confused about what you want.

A dictionary is a list of words that relate to definitions.
When you highlight a phrase, what do you want to pop up??? The phrase?

...

Whatever you are after, it will likely involve hacking.
You might want to investigate writing a custom ACX to create your own text selection actions.

I was scratching my head over what was being requested also.

There are such things as concordances of words and phrases.
Perhaps the O.P. wants one of those keyed by 'keyword' (no pun intended).

Another question: Which Bible?
The number of Bible versions published must nearly equal the number of Biblical scholars.

In many that makes the query a 'fuzzy' question.
For example:
You can find sites that list (some of the most common) versions side-by-side.
There you can see that very often none of them share a word in common.
So in that case, what is the 'keyword'?

Quote:
http://www.biblestudytools.com/genesis/1-1-compare.html
And from that point on, verses really begin to diverge.

That site provides perhaps what the O.P. was requesting:
http://www.biblestudytools.com/parallel-bible/
My point can be seen by selecting the drop-down version boxes.

@eschwartz , @knc1

Thank you for your replies guys.

Sorry if I was not that accurate. All right. Please allow me to try again.

Regarding the version question. It can be anyone. I'm spanish speaker so that would be LBLA or RVR60. For english I prefer ESV or NASB.

So, what I want is: If I read something like.
e.g. Quoting a book of an author in general (hypothetically) :
"God created the universe, and you can read in Gen 1:1 he created heavens and the earth"

So, if I highlight "Gen 1:1", just like you would highlight a word for looking into a dictionary, a popup prompts with the definition, when I highlight the Bible verse, I want a popup to prompt:
"Genesis 1:1 (NAS) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."
Or similar.

* Is it possible?
* Can I use offline books such as the dictionaries? (I guess the Kindle needs to be hacked in order to mod the Dictionary popup when highlighting)
* or do I have to use a Website such as Biblegateway or similars? (I guess the Kindle needs to be hacked in order to mod the Wikipedia popup when hightlighting).

Let me know any ideas you may have.
I'm not really into coding though, but I'll see what I can do.

Thanks for your time guys.

I understood: "verse" as in "quotation" not as in the specification (book:section:verse number) of a verse.

But that is only a detail.

The example ACX sends the highlighted word or phrase to google translate for translation and returns that translation.

It should be very similar to send the specification to one of the bible study sites to return the text of the verse.

An ACX is html/css/javascript - and so are the lookup web pages of the various bible study services.
Hmm...
You might try the Kindle browser on your favorite site, see if it already works as-is.
