Interesting list. Not that much here that fires my imagination, unlike previous years. I can't see the last week for some reason, but assuming it is much like the rest then I find it interesting that we have more books than previous years, the total hours will be fewer.

Oh boy, who put together the SYNC list? The same folks who come up with the Audible daily deals? Where are the classics?

That's a good question. The only classic is "Classic American Short Stories".

Week 15 links nowhere. The books for that week are "Bone Gap" and "Classic American Short Stories".

Audible Daily Deal -- exp 23 Feb @ 11:59pm ET

$4.95 -- The Republic of Pirates -- Colin Woodard -- read by Lewis Grenville (13.4 hrs)

Quote:
Being the True and Surprising Story of the Caribbean Pirates and the Man Who Brought Them Down

The untold story of a heroic band of Caribbean pirates whose defiance of imperial rule inspired revolt in colonial outposts across the world.

In the early 18th century, the Pirate Republic was home to some of the great pirate captains, including Blackbeard, "Black Sam" Bellamy, and Charles Vane. Along with their fellow pirates - former sailors, indentured servants, and runaway slaves - this "Flying Gang" established a crude but distinctive democracy in the Bahamas, carving out their own zone of freedom in which servants were free, blacks could be equal citizens, and leaders were chosen or deposed by a vote. They cut off trade routes, sacked slave ships, and severed Europe from its New World empires. And for a brief, glorious period, the Republic was a success.

$5.95 -- Tinseltown -- William J Mann -- read by Christopher Lane (15.9 hrs)

Quote:
The Day of the Locustmeets The Devil in the White City andMidnight in the Garden of Good and Evil inthis juicy, untold Hollywood story: an addictive true account of ambition, scandal, intrigue, murder, and the creation of the modern film industry.By 1920, the movies had suddenly become America’s newfavorite pastime and one of the nation’s largest industries. Never before hada medium possessed such power to influence; yet Hollywood’s glitteringascendancy was threatened by a string of headline-grabbing tragedies—includingthe murder of William Desmond Taylor, the popular president of the MotionPicture Directors Association, a legendary crime that has remained unsolveduntil now.In a fiendishly involving narrative, bestselling Hollywoodchronicler William J. Mann draws on a rich host of sources, including recentlyreleased FBI files, to uncover the story of the enigmatic Taylor and the diverse group of people who surrounded him—including three beautiful, ambitious actresses; agrasping stage mother; a devoted valet; and a gang of two-bit thugs, any ofwhom might have fired the fatal bullet. And overseeing this entire landscape ofintrigue was Adolph Zukor, the brilliant and ruthless founder of Paramount Pictures, locked in a struggle for control of the industry and desperate to conceal thetruth about the crime. Along the way, Mann brings to life Los Angeles in theRoaring Twenties: a sparkling yet schizophrenic town filled with party girls, drug dealers, religious zealots, newly minted legends, and starlets alreadypast their prime—a dangerous place where the powerful could still run afoul ofthe desperate.A true story recreated with the suspense of a novel, Tinseltown is the work of a storytellerat the peak of his powers—and the solution to a crime that has stumpeddetectives and historians for nearly a century.

X-link to the DRM-free megathread for this Tuesday's Wildside Press freebie, which has embedded audio in it, if you're interested:

If You Was A Moklin by the late Murray Leinster, a vintage science fiction short originally published in Galaxy Magazine. This is supposed to have some sort of embedded audio version of a radio play adaptation in the ePub and PDF as well.

Thanks for the post

The audio is an episode from the radio series X Minus One and can be found here (episode 55) for those wishing not to signup with Wildside. It was originally broadcast on 12 Jun 1956 and runs 23 minutes.

Anyone else experiencing this? FTR, I'm using Dolphin browser on a Fire HDX 8.9 (3rd Gen).
I'm having the same problem. It's aggravating - I used to go to the main page every day to see the daily deal and any sales. It makes me wonder if Amazon is going to start putting more pressure on Audible customers to become members like they've become more aggressive with Amazon customers trying to force them to become Prime members.

You mean you don't get the drop down browse menu (see attached)? Very odd. I recently canceled a 3 month $.99 a month trial deal (and have canceled other trials in the past) and have never had a problem getting the browse menu.

I get the drop down menu, but it disappears immediately after I open it. No time to click any links. I've never had this problem after cancelling other trial periods. This is the first time it's happened to me.

Yep, Audible's sales are super secret; heaven forbid a non-member should find out about them
