Yea, a lot of differences for sure.

As to why he choose to do this with MTV we'll never know. It reminds me of Janet Evanovich and there Stephanie Plum Series. That was a horrible movie with a terrible Stephanie Plum. We'll never see Stephanie Plum 2. Properly cast it could have made a decent TV series in the vein of say Rizzoli and Isle or Castle

This is Rizzoli and Isles last season and I am said. That is a great example of perfect casting making a great TV Series.

But it's actually pretty hilarious if you come at it from an MST3K point of view!

I don't recall the movie being that bad, but I also don't recall the first book being that good. I mostly remember it was set in NJ, so I got a kick out of that. Never cared about a second movie, but I also never read the second book.

Who would have made a better Plum, do you think? I would have liked to see someone a little darker, scrappier and tougher, like Lori Petty. But maybe that's because I really like Lori Petty.

I totally understand if you don't want to encourage this off topic digression, but it seems like you're all in unanimous agreement that the topic show sucks....

I agree. I followed everything on line and while I held out hope, I figured that it would be too different for my tastes. Like you said, the guy has a right to do what he will with his work and to make a buck however he can.

I loved the books, I think I'm up to about 8-9. Haven't read another in a few years. I'm not sure who I would have cast for Stephanie, but definitely not who they cast. I think you are right, someone a bit darker and more scrappy. I would have preferred Morelli to be a bit more 'Italian' as well.

If one is looking for a good mini series of a particular book, I'd recommend the latest BBC series of War and Peace. Recently shown on History Channel. I've read the book twice and I felt the rendition was particularly true to the author's intent. Casting was excellent as well.

This series had so much promise and potential.
On a more positive note, I realized after this latest episode that one could sit down with their friends and watch the series making a drinking game based upon each time Will takes off his shirt

Is there any particular reason why they shouldn't? They're used in many fantasy novels.

Yes, I have. From what I've read here, though, the story's been changed so much anyway, that a different choice of weapons seems like a pretty minor thing by comparison.
