Some people do not want to get updated, since it is quite non-trivial to downgrade again. That is their decision (to prefer the older firmware), and you might not care.

Hello everyone!
First of all I want to thank everyone who participated in creation of jailbreak. You have done a great job for all of us!!!
With your help, I managed to get the jailbreak on my Kindle Voyage, Russian language. Initially it was a version of firmware 5.6.1, I updated it to 5.6.5 and tried to jailbreak. On Stage 2 I entered in the search bar ";fc-cache", waiting for 2 minutes and got the message "Jailbreak failed".
I do factory reset, then I reinstall 5.6.5 and try to jailbreak again. This time it was success, the message "JB successful" appears a few seconds after entering ";fc-cache".
I am looking forward to many happy hours of reading))))

i hosted my own server, but it still fails to start when I click 'stage 2' in the browser, it just closes off. I think it doesn't work for kindle basic

It does work on the "Kindle Basic" (KT-2), I own one myself.
Did you reset the language choice to English?

yes, even re-uploaded 5.6.5 firmware and tried all over again yet still

Post exactly what you are doing, step by step, telling the result of each thing, with pictures of the screen if possible.

Tell **everything** even those things you think don't matter or make a difference.
(If your judgment of those things was correct, you wouldn't be having this problem.)

I read all of the forum again, I came across this post of yours

I had placed the jb folder instead of the file.

I have a PW2 WiFi(B0D4 2204), with FW 5.6.5, already jailbroke, running KUAL, ScreenSaver Hack, BackDoor, etc... I love it.

I put the "jb" at the root, and I stopped and ask for my self:

"I really **have** to do this?"

I have no answers... Im curious about the new "home view" in FW 5.7.2.1, but nothing else, I dont want to loose anything... so:

1. I must upgrade?
2. what is next? waiting for a 5.7.2.1 JB?
3. what do you guys recomend to do in my situation?

2) Not required, the jail break will survive the Amazon upgrade.
3) Your choice.
Point:
*) As you have seen, 5.6.5 is at risk of having software run as 'root' when triggered by a remote website.
If you use the Kindle's built-in browser, that might be important to you.
*) 5.7.x.x is supposed to be protected from the risk.

All of your add-ins, other than KUAL and its extensions, will have to be re-installed.
Same-Same as always.

Be careful about this: if you want to install the SS hacks at 5.7.2.1, you HAVE TO install the JB at 5.6.5.

Yes, you are already jailbroken right now and that is all that matters.

Here I am:

I dowloaded the FW file from Amazon, installed

during instalation I could see a "** bridge ... " message, it was so fast and I wasnt paying attention

I update some Kual extension,

And put librariansync, python, and linkss .bin files into MRPI root folder,

I reset it, openned the KUAL, go to install MRPI Packages options,
I cpuld see how MRPI installs the 3 packages in the proper order (python, librarian and finally linkss) and done... it was so easy... I love it

I put back the "update.bin.tmp.partial" folder in the root... "just in case"!

I just figured out I didnt install the last version of python nor linkss, I get it from "Snapshots of NiLuJe's hacks"

Updated via MRPI and everything goes perfect!

Yup -
NiLuJe has given our jail break some of the properties of early MS-DOS viruses.

Even replacing the complete operating system image (which is what an Amazon update does) will not get rid of it.

I am unable to install screen savers please help me. when i use KUAL mr packages got installed but screen savers don't get installed. I have all new Kindle paperwhite 7th gen i think its called PW3
