Good Morning,
I need to ask a question, I already jb a PW2 and it works perfectly (thank you), now I'm trying to jb a PW3 with 5.6.5, I followed the easy instruction, I went to kindlefere.com/jb/ and I run ;fc-cache in the search bar (when asked), and after some second it tell me "Jailbreak failed" and the kindle freez (I need to restart it because I got a white home page). Do you have any suggestion? It's a PW3 G090G105 5.6.5 tried in Italian and English GB language (I already tried to hard reset, but nothing change). Edit: I made an Hard reset and I reinstalled the original 5.6.5 firmware, I tried again and this time the jb has been done. thank you Last edited by Kuramay; 02-18-2016 at 02:00 PM. I don't think anyone ever answered this question explicitly. Is 5.7.2.1 OK to install without jeopardizing the jailbreak (I assume we'll still have to re-install the hacks)? Has anyone yet actually upgraded? Thanks!

It's been reported in another thread that it's fine. No problems with the JB.

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to jailbreak my PW2 5.6.5 following these instructions. I get the jailbreak sucess message after visiting the website (repeated several times in a row) and running ;fc-cache. Then I replug the usb cable and copy the hotfix, but as soon as I unmount my Kindle in Linux it pops the Update Error message saying an invalid update file was uploaded. I have tried it with airplane mode on, off, after sucessfully jailbreaking 3 times in a row (from the first and also from china address). Jb file is copyied to root, the same place where I am copying the update.bin, but the latter keeps being deleted as soon as I unmount. I didn't have the opportunity to go to settings and choose Update my kindle. What am I missing? |

![]() Actually, I do prefer sans-serif fonts over serifs, but I generally use whatever packs the most text onto my screen. I am nearsighted (myopic) and I can read very small text with my device about eight inches from my nose. |

I am in doubt if I should fatory reset the kindle before trying to jailbreak. I hadn't because it is not written in this tutorial, but in the link it is written: Factory reset before continuing. Could this possibly be preventing me from jailbreaking? Should I factory reset it? My serial starts with 9061 2201 .. My firmware is 5.6.5 (273030038). Thanks!

So - Try it first (two or three times in a row) without the factory reset. |

Hello All,
My knowledge is very limited but I have a Kindle PaperWhite2 with firmware 5.6.2.1 It has never been jailbreaked but I would like to do so for custom screensavers and better compatibility with Calibre. Would this method work with my device? Thank you for continually chipping away at this. |

Download from Amazon the update to 5.6.5 for your device, install, turn on airplane mode, return here. See: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...postcount=1301 For how to get firmware versions older than current from the Amazon download server. |

Update_jailbreak_bridge_1.14.N_install.bin ... And not 2 to choose from .. I skipped the first step (update), because in device info I see my kindle is already running 5.6.5 firmware. |

@rafaeltcc: There are two different packages that can contain a bridge install bin, that's what @rogerinnyc meant.
You'll want the hotfix, not the full fledged 'old' JB package. That said, try restarting your device before trying to install the hotfix. Also, double-check your exact Kindle model against the wiki. If it's not listed, I'm going to need the first 6 characters of the S/N and the country it was bought/shipped to. |
