I have enjoyed both of the Legion short story/novellas (less than 200 pages total). Interesting main character and stories.

Next up: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Hitchhiker's Trilogy 1) - Douglass Adams

The books are

1. Wizard’s Bane
2. The Wizardry Compiled
Collected in an Omnibus, The Wiz Biz
3. The Wizardry Cursed
4. The Wizardry Consulted
Collected in an Omnibus, Wiz Combo II: Cursed and Consulted
5. The Wizardry Quested

I'm not sure if 3 & 4 are currently available as ebooks. The omnibus doesn't seem to still be for sale.

Not bad, although it too has dated a little. But on the whole an interesting story of the culture that develops in an arcology and its relationship to the nearby city.

Next up: Last in the Lost Fleet sequel by Jack Campbell. Beyond the Frontier: Leviathan

I'm on a non-fiction binge at the moment, so no fiction being read at all. Not doing my 14-year Baen backlist any good!

I've recently finished:

A Time to Keep Silence, Patrick Leigh Fermor's account of a few monastery visits. As ever, PLF writes gorgeous prose; this particular book was a little on the slight side, but still well worth the read.

Treacherous Beauty: Peggy Shippen, the Woman Behind Benedict Arnold's Plot to Betray America, which makes a persuasive case that Peggy Shippen was not only complicit in her husband's treason, but that she may well have instigated it. A quick, interesting read.

An English Affair: Sex, Class and Power in the Age of Profumo, a scathing indictment of morals, hypocrisy, politics and the suborning of justice for social and political ends in 50s and early 60s Britain. I wish the author hadn't been so free with his own reaction to this appalling tale, just the same, this is a marvelous snapshot of post-war England.

Currently reading Intelligence in War: Knowledge of the Enemy from Napoleon to Al-Qaeda by John Keegan.

Sheesh, I visit this thread regularly to see tons of fantasy and scifi books listed, neither of which interests me at all. Then someone is reading a bunch of non-fiction, but withholds the titles. You're just a tease, HarryT!

Art history and Egypology, if you're interested. I doubt many people will be :

"Amarna Sunset: Nefertiti, Tutankhamun, Ay, Horemheb, and the Egyptian Counter-reformation" by Aidan Dodson. An account of the end of the Amarna revolution in Egypt's New Kingdom started by Akhenaten.

"The Millionaire and the Mummies" by John M. Adams. A biography of Theodore Davis, a rather eccentric American millionaire who funded excavations in the Valley on the Kings in the early 20th century.

"The Story of Art" by E.H. Gombrich. An excellent single-volume summary of art history, which I described in more detail in a post on the previous page.

Two non-fiction books that I recently read:
Finished: Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln
by Doris Kearns Goodwin
Halfway through: The Power Broker: Robert Moses and the Fall of New York
by Robert A. Caro. This is a huge book (over 1000 pages)

Listening to on my iPod: The English Spy (Gabriel Allon #15)
by Daniel Silva I'm a huge Gabriel Allon fan!

Thanks! Actually, the Egyptology* books look reasonably accessible (especially the second, obviously) and are not very expensive in the Kindle store, so on the list they go.

*One of my "themes" for 2016 is the broadly-scoped one of the ancient world, so these are under serious consideration. See, that's why I like lists! Far better than picking blind.

Is it available in the US as an ebook? It's not here in the UK. I bought it as a secondhand "1p" (+£2.80 postage) hardback from Amazon UK.

Thanks. Cursed and Consulted isn't available for purchase at the moment. Hopefully they'll add it to a future bundle.

Amarna Sunset is $9.99 and the Davis bio is $7.99 for Kindle. The latter is pennies plus postage for a used hardback, but I'm trying hard not to buy any more paper books.
