That doesn't matter. I think most people who are doing unsanctioned changes to an expensive device, such as the Voyage, would want to read every post in this thread to make sure they don't render their device unusable. For myself, I was very nervous. I was careful to read it all.

A massive to everybody who has worked on this.

Did the JB this morning using kindlefere, all working as it should and it's so nice to have my screensavers back

It's been absolute ages since I last did any JB/other goodies related stuff and things are different now so here come the stupid questions can I now safely manually upgrade to 5.7.2 and if so, what (if anything?) will need reinstalling afterwards?

Note that the sequence:
1) Reset
2) Install an Amazon image package

Does not touch the 'diags' system.
So if you have RP/CRP installed before the sequence, they might very well still work.

I don't recall anyone testing it nor can I think of an *easy* way to get the device to trigger RP from a fresh Amazon 'main' image install.

The jailbreak, once installed, is by now confirmed to survive the 5.7.2 update.

As usual, whenever you apply an official firmware update, you will need to reinstall ALL hacks/goodies that touched the system partition.
So, everything except kindlets (like KUAL) and KUAL extensions.

I'm missing something I guess. I followd this thread for days now and today I decided to take the plunge.

I followed the instructions on page 36.
I got the 'jailbreak succeded' on my screen and switched the airplane mode back on
But then I got lost. The instructions say:

-connect to computer and get jailbreak bridge file
-put "Update_jailbreak_bridge_1.14.N_install.bin" in Kindle root
-eject kindle; -make sure you're in airplane mode
-go to settings and update kindle

What is the jailbreak bridge file and were do I ge it? And why is it needed?

Because the OTA jailbreak is somewhat simplified and you need to 'complete' the work.

Why you need it? It's the "thing" (=scripts, procedures) that makes sure (or at least tries really hard) that jailbreak (certificate) survives future firmware updates.

Thanks guys, I completely missed that part. It confused me that I the message "Jailbreak succeeded" appeared on my screen. So I thought I was finished.
I used the BIN file and the update worked great

You **where** finished with the jail break.

You had not (yet) added protection against losing it due to future firmware updates.

But now you have both (current and future stuff).

5.7.2.1 now available for PW2. Has anyone this update and did the JB survivce it ?

My son's PW2 is on 5.4.5.1 and I will now bring it to 5.6.5 and JB it.
He would love the same launch page as I have now on my KV (5.7.2) but I can't get 5.7.2. for him, only 5.7.2.1 (5.7.2 is not downladable anymore) and I am scared to lose his JB if I update him to it.

What's the point with this 5.7.2.1 firmware? What brings it new? Amazon does not show the specific difference with 5.7.2.
