I said before, for me it feels like that bookerly is a tad darker with the update than before. I don't use the san serif fonts, but those have always been darker than the serif. Bookerly was always a bit lighter than caecelia and to me they feel much closer now with bookerly possibly having gotten a darker. I say possibly as it might be all in my head.
![]() But its what I am thinking. Only fonts I use are bookerly and caecilia. |

Just to add my two cents here: my personal feeling is that, indeed, all the "whiter" fonts became visibly "darker" with 5.7.2.

I was kind of annoyed with the new home screen, but fortunately I watched an youtube review that showed how to get back to the old one. I want the reader to work for me and not me for the reader.
My only grievance with this update now is just the not so immediate access to the light control menu, with a step increased to access it. Well, you win some, you lose some – now it's easier to turn wifi on (something I rarely use, so meh). Aside from that, same experience as before, overall – which is good. |

I just called Amazon and lodged my complaint about the lack of the progress/length of book indicator. I told CS I'd just upgraded my Voyage and wanted to know how to get the dots back that used to be under the book title. I actually was able to say that without laughing! She said it couldn't be done (duh, I knew that), and when I asked how to revert to the previous software version she said that wasn't an option either. I then asked how to lodge a complaint as I was reading on my PW1 instead (a blatent lie) of the Voyage because I preferred the dots (she probably thought I was nuts, ok, maybe that ain't too far from the truth but still...).

The dots (and the progress indicator at the bottom on the kindle keyboard) are two things I sorely miss on my Kobo.

At least you are getting some replies which makes at least some sense.
![]() I sent in a couple of complaints to CS here at Amazon germany. The usual reply is as follows (quoting from my mind): Quote:

Yeah I understand. Sadly most of the CS people are call center workers at a 9 to 5 day job who may not have the right understanding of the issues. I made bad experiences with them in the past (different companies and occasions) and therefore avoid talking to them as much as possible.

I also meticulously added the ASIN to enable goodreads integration. I'm curious to know if it works now without adding the ASIN, although I doubt it.

Just updated my PW3 and it seems like so far it's pretty awesome.
One thing I noticed though. I enabled the new home screen. I noticed that you can just select 'My Library' to see your entire library, which is cool. However, when on the top left I select 'All' it only seems to show those few books I've gotten through amazon. I have to select 'Downloaded' to see all 303 of my sideloaded (via USB/Calibre, not email) books. What I don't understand is why they're not showing up under 'All', since as the word suggests, I figure that would include all of my books. At least it seems to remember that I want to view 'Downloaded', so I don't have to keep reselecting it each time I go into my library. And yes, wow, the keyboard is incredibly responsive now. Like night and day. |

I've noticed an unfortunate change for those who liked goodreads integration.
Previously, if you sideloaded a book and used the Quality Check plugin in Calibre to patch-in the ASIN, the kindle would recognize it and thus know which book to match it up with on goodreads, enabling goodreads integration, at least the portion that let you update your reading progress. This still works, but you have to be sure that the ASIN you enter is the one for the kindle version of the book. Previously you could use any ASIN for any version of the book available on Amazon. This would, for example, allow you to enter the ASIN even if that book isn't available in the kindle store, which would allow you to still use the update-reading-progress feature. |
