5.6.5 Jailbreak (closed-kindle) -- released!

Ok, so I've got my US English PW3 Jailbroken (G090 G205) but I'm having some problems. I'm trying to install the screensaver hack. If I understand correctly, the file I need to use with the MR package installer is "Update_linkss_0.24.N_install_pw2_kt2_kv_pw3.b in". However, so far the installer just says something about destroying the package...

Also, some KUAL extensions have been failing to load for me. I've tried the Basic Calculator and Eboard extensions, both of which crash, but KUAL+, Leafpad, Skipstone, the GNU Awk Installer, and the MR Package installer all work. Do they need to be updated to support my model or is something wrong?
Still using 5.6.5, but I have no objections about upgrading.

Just updated to 5.7.2, jailbreak survival, "K.U.A.L" "MR Package installer" and "Screensaver" work fine.

This is 'day one' for a lot of these add-ins.
For each of the KUAL add-ins there is (or should be) listed an: 'upstream' link.
That should lead to the thread where the development was done on that extension.
Post your problem(s) with each extension in each of their threads.
(Why? Because authors often are subscribed to their own development threads, they will get notified that way.)

All packages must be put in the /mrpackages directory (more than one at a time is ok) -
Then installed by: KUAL -> Helper -> Install MR packages

If still having trouble with the screen saver -
post about it in the screen saver thread.
Each of the items in that snapshots list also has an 'up stream' link.

This may sound like a really dumb, n00b, question, but please bare with me. I am currently using a Kindle Touch with Duokan to read epubs and mobis. I would like to purchase the latest PW and wondering if I'd still be able to read these formats. Is KOReader what I will need to install after jailbreaking? From what I have been reading, I must prevent the PW from upgrading its firmware in order to j/b by putting it into airplane mode.
Will someone w/o any Unix experience, but who is willing to try be able to j/b it by following the instructions? Again, my apologies for dumb or repetitive questions.

It is reasonable to assume the PW will come with fw5.6.5 (or lower) since the 5.7.2 update only just came out and they will still be selling their current boxed-up stock.

So you will be able to jailbreak -- but Duokan uses their own incompatible jailbreak certificates and they haven't (yet) stolen our latest jailbreak. You cannot install the Duokan jailbreak until they "release" a new one...

KOReader will work fine, in fact since KOReader works with the community they are the best option.




Just follow the instructions linked in the OP, and ask if you need any particular step clarified.
It's pretty simple, lots of people have managed it even without possessing any unix knowledge.

Thank you very much for your reply. I am not looking to install Duokan on PW if there is an alternative such as KOReader. I will go ahead and place an order for PW before the current stock with FW 5.6.5 is dried up. I feel confident that with the forum's kind help I'll be able to j/b it.

I have followed mj52's guide on page 36. Everything worked fine.
Then after seeing your post, I have updated to 5.7.2 manually. Now I don't see KUAL on my library list
And screensavers back to default.
Any ideas?

Edit: Sorry, KUAL's present but screensavers back to default!

Re-install the screensavers package.
