5.6.5 Jailbreak (closed-kindle) -- released!

I have Voyage. I installed jailbreak successfully and installed Kual and Keader. But when I try to install kpvbooklet (from https://github.com/koreader/kpvbookl...ses/tag/v0.6.2) I get the problem. The item "update" on Kindle is inactive. Why?

Because you are not using MrPI (the Mobileread Package Installer).

The jailbreak, once installed, is confirmed to survive the 5.7.2 update unharmed.

If you do get updated, check out the font hack, in fact, check it out anyway -- it sounds like you are the type to be interested.

Yes - you still have to do it with manual commands but RP gives you ssh access to the command line of the 'diags' system.

(The series-5 Kindles are all dual system boot devices.)

And the CRP add-on to RP allows you to boot into the 'diags' system based on the USB cable connection, handy if whatever happened to the system prevents you from accessing the USB user storage.

Can someone link relevant posts?
Are there other interesting hacks?
After jailbreak, is it possible to go back to stock?

Yes, just delete the jailbreak certificate.

But since it is inert (if you don't use hacks, the jailbreak doesn't bother anything), I cannot fathom why you would want to un-jailbreak your Kindle.

Hi,

First things first, thanks to Branch Delay and other members of MobileRead for the jailbreak!!! (and for your support)

I would like to do a check with you, and ask for some help:

- I have a PW2 9017, 5.6.5, Spanish. I have run the jb, and on the second attempt just being more patient) I got the OK.
Then I've installed the Update_jailbreak_bridge_1.14.N_install.bin, and got the OK as well.
But when I try to install update_rescue_pack_20150705_install.bin "update my kindle" is grayed out, and the bin is removed.
Same problem with Update_usbnet_0.21.N_install_pw2_kt2_kv_pw3.bin
What am I doing wrong?

- Despite the OKs gotten, I've realized that I had not done a factory reset. So:
. was the factory reset really required? If yes, why I have had a positive answer?
. my problem with the RP has to do with not having done the factory reset?
. and in any case, what should I do to install it?

You must use KUAL and the MrPI extension to install hacks on the current firmware.

UYK (Update Your Kindle) has not worked for a while now.

NiLuJe above told you about KUAL and MrPI -

The "Factory Reset" -
Not related to your problems now.

DO NOT do a "Factory Reset" now, you stand a good chance of trashing what you have gotten done.
If fact, don't do a "Factory Reset" ever again.
(There are some attempts made by the JB to protect itself, but it is better if you don't risk it. )
