Wall Charger Q

There something I've been meaning to ask about.
I purchased my PRS-T1 used on eBay and the seller included a wall charger from Sony but of a model I can't find any details about online. (Just that it exists. Not what Sony made it for or if it's intended to be used with their Readers.)

It's a Sony AC-UB10B rated at 5V 0.5A. The wall pins fold into it in a funky way so it collapses down into a square, like a black tape measure.

It works, but is it good or bad for these units, at least as far as battery life span is concerned?

Also, is it at least better than charging from a PC's USB port?

It seems to be what came with some model Sony Cyber-Shot digital camera. It should work to charge your T1. But it will do so slowly.

There is a thread on MR about charging a T1. Find it and have a read.

Yeah, I read it. It seemed a bit confusing and full of conjecture.

Given it's from Sony and the specs are OK, it should work to charge the T1.

I use the plug from my Nook HD to charge my Sonys. The USB cord plugs into it just fine so I can charge it from the wall. I figure it's fine for the Nook HD so it should be fine for the Sonys.

My Sony T1 works with every micro USB charger 5V 0.5A I have tried. If USB connector plugs into T1 USB socket it has charged the reader. Also no problems charging from computer or car charging adapter.
Circuitry in T1 controls charging preventing over charging damage to battery.

Most recommendations suggest you don't want to fully charge or fully discharge the battery for the best life-span. I wait until the battery is low but not so low as to get a warning and then charge for 1-1/2 hours.

Dunno if that makes any difference, but at the age of these now, I don't want to risk having battery problems.

I also have a T-1 and a sony wall charger, model PRSA-AC10 that was purchased separate from the reader. T-1 came from Walmart back in 12/12 and charger came from Sony a month later while browsing their website. Have used it quite frequently and to date, haven't had any problems what so ever.

I use my Sony reader charger and my cell phone charger interchangeably and haven't had a problem with either device.

Any Micro-USB charger would do just fine.

Sorry, but that's just not true. Sony Readers will not work with Apple chargers. A lot of chargers do things the same way Apple does, so they too won't work.

Nope. Apple chargers (or ones that do things the Apple way) will not work.

I have read about Apple chargers with micro USB connector not working with Sony e-readers. My wife's apple phone charger doesn't have micro USB plug so I don't expect it to charge my Kobo e-readers.

That's the cable. The charger does have a USB port. but it's wired in the "We are Apple so we have to do things our way which is not the standard way of doing things. Sony and Apple chargers are not compatible.
