5.6.5 Jailbreak (closed-kindle) -- released! - Page 39

Hello!

Many thanks to Brach delay and everyone who's helped so far, I've successfully jailbroken and updated to 5.7.2 on a G090 G105 PW2

My question is, is it safe to factory reset at this point without breaking the jailbreak? I haven't installed any kindlets/screensaver hacks yet.

I got KUAL. But I can't find other stuff. I also got MRPI

Where are:

A text editor(leafpad)
Custom Screensavors
Skipstone(better browser)

I successfully jailbroken my Kindle pw2 italian language with the kindlefere.com/jb/ method

Why do you want to do a factory reset???

Anyway, don't.

It is fatal to the jailbreak. (There are failsafes that try to give you a fighting chance under certain conditions to restore the jailbreak, but why test it?)

After the KV jb, KUAL, MrPi, screensaver hack, font hack, update to 5.7.2, everything was working well last night. Airplane mode is on. Screensaver in cover mode and font overrides were working. This morning when I tried to open the book I was reading (converted, deDRMed with Calibre and fonts embedded) I got the message that if I'd bought it from Amazon to redownload it. I tried another book which did open, but opening the font menu caused a restart. Tried it on several books (all converted with Calibre) with the same restart result. Downloaded a book direct from Amazon and had the same problem. Opened KUAL, disabled the font hack, restarted, no problem opening the font menu. Re-enabled the font hack, restored the font overrides and all is well again.

All in azw3.

@jscris: Likely culprit being a sans override in the Fonts hack.

I'm hoping to have the time to update my PW2 today and check it out for myself. Barring that, the next snapshots will have some dry-coded FW 5.7.x love.

So I've jailbroken and read through some threads for extensions. I tried the cover mode thingy, and got it to work, but no matter how long I wait or what settings I use, I only get the one screensaver that no covers were processed yet.

This and a better browser was all I wanted to gain through JB, but the cover thing doesn't work and I'm lost on installing the browser. I think I downloaded all I need, but do I only install the bin file? There are so many files and folders in the zip file I downloaded and jumping around in the forums to puzzle together all information confuses me even more.

Only overrides were Serif and Serif Condensed. Bookerly with Georgia, Caecilia Condensed with DejaVu EInk, both of which I've been using for years with no problems both as embedded fonts and on previously jb kindles. It seems to be working fine now.

Ever since I ripped off the TX pad on my PW2, I've been patiently waiting for this release. Thank you very much for your time and effort, BD. I'll update once I get it up and running. Amazon sure took their sweet time to release 5.7.2!

Have a KV B013.

Performed a factory reset.
Set-up Wifi. Placed in airplane mode.
Connected kindle to computer, extracted JB.zip, dragged folder onto root.
Disconnected. Connected to wifi
Experimental browser, went to kindlefere.com/jb, 'I accept'.
Stage 1, pressed back arrow.
Stage 2,--->

"Application Error: The selected application could not be started. Please try again."
Close

Any ideas or suggestions, or is my device incompatible?

Don't copy the "jb/" folder.

Copy the files inside the folder. Well, only the "jb/jb" file is important, the "jb/*.html" files are used by the website.
