my site openplayer.org is NOT a ramdom web-site - it has been on-line for five years now.

I do not think that I am any less trustworthy than the person signing the next release of your package.
Self-signed **anything** just gives a warm and fuzzy feeling, not security.

The kindlefere guys got really really lucky. openplayer.org does not appear to work.

Again, I don't recommend using either of these. (although the chinese instructions appear to be quite well done.) The behavior of alternative URLs is going to be poorly defined.

my pw2 runs fc cache and then returns an error jailbreak failed. i have factory reset and went to kindlefere.com/jb. any thoughts???

Did you enter ";fc-cache" - without the quotation marks - in the search field, as described in other posts earlier?

EDIT: And did you put the jb file in the Kindle's root AFTER the factory reset?

no.the jb runs on auto mode. i did not enter anything. lemme try.

EDIT: ;fc-cache did not produce any results. factory resetting again

edit2: after resetting, kindle forces me to register. should i register or bypass it(how)?

From how I read it, you've got to enter ";fc-cache" manually into the search prompt when it displays something containing fc-cache. It doesn't auto-run.

Device is already confirmed, but I just wanted to add my thanks to the list of folks who are grateful for this amazingly helpful tool as well as the countless hours you folks have been putting in answering questions and (unfortunately) some repeated questions. Thanks for your incredible work and patience with those of us who are truly noobs at all this.

I was able to get KOReader going and get night vision going! Absolutely astounding. It's far better than I thought it would be! Thanks SOO much. No need for me to look into a different device now.

@knc1: have I just missed that - you had set openplayer.org set up the same way the kindlefere folks did with kindlefere.com, only you redirected to 208.113.182.154?

Does it mean, no need for changing the router settings? That would be so helpful, since I'm sitting on a cable router that so crippled by the isp... I can't change anything regarding dns here...
