I've got a better method
-download the jb.zip and unzip it
-move the "jb" file to the root of Kindle
-visit "kindlefere.com/jb/" on kindle's experimental browser
-follow instructions
-put "Update_jailbreak_bridge_1.14.N_install.bin" in Kindle root
-make sure you're in airplane mode
-update kindle

Success. I did your steps and did, when he warned to type something in the search field, appeared ""jailbreak success"", already installed another pack Update_jailbreak_1.14.N_install.bin

Now , how do I know that really the jailbreak was successful ? Oh, I need to make a factory reset it?

Glad you succeeded, but this is surprising. Branch Delay said it would only work with the "a" URL, but there are already two reports of it working without that.

The default of that set-up would be to serve the index.html file in the jb/ directory.
So the proper page would be sent.

But not named as a domain - which as you noted, was not supposed to work.

If somebody else wants to test for this - do

• Ensure your Kindle's browser has Internet access (however is normal for yourself)
• Put the jb file from the jb.zip archive in the root of user storage (alongside the 'document' folder)
  Note: If you intend to do a 'factory reset' - put the file in-place AFTER doing the 'reset'.
  (Some people have reported that the 'factory reset' is not required.)
• Do the 'eject/safely remove', un-plug cable dance
• in the Kindle's browser go-to openplayer.org
  You will get the same starting page that you would when accessing that public server by IP address

The question is if it will jailbreak your Kindle this way.

If that fails, then try the domain/jb url given in the post above.

Please report on what happens in both cases.

It appeared that the jailbreak fou a hit in the top of the kindle bar , however, as I really know it was a success? I did it without doing a reset before , that I need to do one now?

Now you should begin to see why it had to be patched by Amazon before being let loose in the world.

The above situation is the same as:
visit malicous site that loads the jscript -
tells you, you can download there a fancy font (actually any executable file to be run as 'root' on your Kindle)
gives you directions about using ;fc-cache (clear the font control cache)

Bam! Your Kindle just joined a million other Kindles in a botnet (or anything else).

And I am betting that Amazon did not fix the webkit exploit - they only removed the ;fc-cache command from the search bar.

Thank you notimp, aceflor, hius07. I've mistaken the prompt message as showing that the Kindle is running the ;fc-cache command by itself instead of asking me to manually run it. It has been a long time since I JB the Kindle Touch.

You will know you are successful if you see 2 new folders: "mkk" and "rp" in the root directory of your Kindle.

I also used kindlefere.com/jb/ method on my Kindle Voyage (WiFi B013 0907), it worked like a charm.
