For those not familiar with the ;fc-cache command - when the Jailbreak tells you in the notification bar to run ;fc-cache in the search bar -
Open the Kindle Search (magnifying glass Icon on newer touch enabled devices) and simply type in ;fc-cache followed by enter. Then keep your fingers crossed that you see a Jailbreak successful message shortly thereafter. ![]() Last edited by notimp; 02-06-2016 at 08:45 AM. |

Sorry
About this factory reset. If I do it, I will download again from Amazon. What if Amazon gives me 5.7.2.? I am confused about this. ![]() Do we need to press the button 7 seconds or really 40 seconds? Last edited by roger64; 02-06-2016 at 05:36 AM. |

This comes from how they handled past releases, but then - dont come complaining, if this time around they decided to go live with the rollout in the next 5 minutes. ![]() So while this might be currently the most convenient way to (not) address the issue, its not the safest.. ![]() 2. If you are hosting the Jailbreak yourself (on a computer in your network using the "DNS for a" method), you can disconnect the router the computer and the Kindle will be on - from the internet, during the entire jailbreak process. When you do a factory reset - the Kindle will ask for the language you want to use (if you want to be safe, choose english), an network to connect to, and then immediately drop you into a "register this Kindle" interface - which you cant exit at first glance. But if you reboot the Kindle at this point (long press the power button), when the Kindle boots up again - it will boot through to the main menu. From there you can access the built in browser and do the jailbreak -- while not being connected to the internet entirely. But this depends on you - physically - disconnecting the router from your modem. Or if you are on a modem/router combo that can set the DNS, disconnecting the modem/router combo from the "cable in the wall" (or removing the SIM card if you are using a 3G or 4G modem). Factory Reset is a menu option in the Kindles settings. Maybe start RTFM, before trying to do anything jailbreak related on your Kindle... Long pressing the power button only power cycles (reboots) the device. Whenever you need to do that - you press it usually "as long as it takes". ![]() ![]() Last edited by notimp; 02-06-2016 at 06:00 AM. |

VICTORYYY !
Managed to get it to work through "kindlefere.com/jb", as my old computer apparently has an Adapter that can't host (It complained to no end about not being able to enter "Master" mode, and the little bit of Googling I did pointed toward it being a hardware limit to the adaptor, rather than something I could fix). Also, I followed the instructions by Itisike here : https://www.reddit.com/r/kindle/comm...new_jailbreak/ THANK YOU ALL !! Especially Branch Delay ! ![]() EDIT: Umm... does anyone know why I've suddenly got 2016606 displayed as my Karma count ? I suspect it's a bug of some kind, but it stays even if I refresh the page or log out, so it must be on the system. Last edited by pbock; 02-06-2016 at 06:06 AM. Reason: Puzzling phenomenon |

Hi, must be dumber than a bag of rocks, I failed pretty much on all methods ^^
PW2 (I think, from 2014) Kindle, reset to english, windows 7, computed renamed to "a" (without quotes) and since I'm that dumb, I have one probably superstupid question : do we need wifi on our mobo to make this work ? coz the wifi is on my modem (which can be set in router or bridge mode, currently router) so I wonder if it's the main problem for me here and while I can connect using wifi credentials from modem and have everything else set (http wamp server online, jb html files ready on the server, jb file on the kindle root, dns 46.119.x.x taken on previous page, "a" page working on computer browser), that a page fails to load from the kindle browser so I tried the online methods as that kindlefere.com/jb, but strictly nothing happens on step 2, just blank page... pretty much lost here... |
