Our high temp for the day was close to 60° F. It's back in the 40s, now. There's still a high berm of ice and frozen slush blocking the driveway. Tomorrow is supposed the be mild, then Thursday should be in the 60s again, with heavy rains. With any luck we'll be parking in the driveway by the weekend.

^Interesting.
Hooray! The average temperatures are on the increase again. I don't care what the groundhog says, the sun is starting to feel warm again around here which is always a good thing and Spring, from a scientific standpoint is only 47 days away. This whole six weeks thing is stupid. It's pretty much exactly when Spring starts anyway. What be the point of that ye scurvy groundhog? |

Back when I was working for a living I used to have a special place in my heart for February. The weather was still miserable, usually, but with sunsets coming after 5:00, (here in the northeast US, at least) it would still be light out after the (official) end of the workday.
Meanwhile, today is unseasonably warm, with an unseasonably large amount of snow and ice on the ground. It's shaping up to be a mess. |

Yep. It's nice to see the sun still kind of up when eating supper.
Another beautiful morning. -7C and not much wind. A light dusting of snow. We could really use 30cm of the stuff though. |

Beautiful Spring weather until tonight when the storms moved in. Tomorrow morning is predicted to be warm as well. There's a possibility of snow by nightfall.

We're at the beginning of a nasty-arse heatwave of a type not seen in a couple or three decades. The forecast maxima are 35/36/40/41/39/39/39. Some suburbs it will be consistently hotter than that. Public warnings are being put about and hospitals are apparently ramping up capacity.

-12C with a -20C windchill. Although the wind didn't seem cold and it was a nice walk this morning.

Yesterday = temps in 60's F with a 'frog strangler' rain storm.
Today = temps begin in 60's F, then drop all day into 40's F by tonight .... more rain of course. I've renamed my lawn 'the Okefenokee Swamp' -- mandatory wellies |

They are forecasting rain for Saturday here. Quite odd when the normal high is still -9C. I'm hoping it doesn't and I'm hoping it stays cold enough for snow and definitely not freezing rain.

Hmm. I don't usually hear THAT wish. Given that rain turns into snow at (I think) 6 times the volume, most people are grateful when it rains rather than snows! We've been having a pleasantly warm winter, and a lot of rain, rather than Heaps a Lot of snow.

^It's not warm enough or close enough to spring to want a sheet of ice that woulud be hear until mid-March. Normal high is -9 and normal low is -20. Things just don't melt that fast yet so any rain that falls is going to be a skating rink.
There's been not enough shoveling here and terrible sledding conditions. I want some snow so the kids can have some fun. Last time we went sledding all the outdoor clothes had to go in the washer because they were covered in mud. That is not supposed to happen in January. |
