Actually, the hoop-pine mulch combined with the plants combined with the scrub-turkeys tends to keep pretty much all the weeds away (this is what all our gardens, including the large, existing, front "nature strip" garden, is mulched with now. I know this most clearly from the strip of garden along our back fence, where bad, infamously-persistent, wildly-growing fishbone fern was hacked out by me but has mostly been kept from growing by scrub turkeys (who love the mulch). Mostly we're just pulling up self-sown golden cane palm sprouts and replanting them elsewhere or just chucking them. Weeds are not a problem.

(And two of my dragons hatched this morning! But now the hatchlings are sick from being viewed too much, so I had to wrap them in a nice layer of fog. Evidently dragon hatchlings find that comforting. Who knew?)
