What is it you don't like about Samsung software? The only difference I noticed between my Nexus and Samsung is where stuff is in settings. I use Nova launcher, SwiftKey keyboard, Jorte Calendar and Power Toggles in the notification bar. Maybe that's why I don't see much difference? I started using Android years ago so I had to find replacement apps for a lot of things because the stock versions sucked. Which reminds me I also use Opera now but have used many other browsers.

I may be always buying Samsung in the future because they are simple to root. My S6 is the 920F version, but it also works with AT&T in the US and the bootloader is unlocked. |

Right now I have a Samsung phone that is not rooted, had to go through and turn off lots of apps to make it usable. Compare that to a Moto E phone I have that has a minimalist interface and simple Android setup. Samsung seems to go out of their way to complicate Android. |

I have three tablets right now. When those die, I'll probably replace only one.

I'm typing this on my 7" BlackBerry Playbook. Man, I wish this brand had been successful... Overall I prefer it to my 10" Android.
Eventually though I will have to replace it. I get nervous using an unsupported device on the Internet (and several websites nag me about the out of date browser.) I need a replacement for my malfunctioning (due to physical damage) 10" though. Comics look amazing on it, and I love my Marvel Unlimited subscription. I hope the tablet market stabilizes. It's gonna take a while to save up some money. |

I use my Nook HDplus for magazine pdfs, some reading with Moonreader (mostly stuff with illustrations) due to its large screen size. Also used it for audio books that refuse to play on my iPods. It's been worth every penny. I also have a fire HDX primarily for text to speech but also to read email and newspaper every morning. Some amazing things on these tablets and given the slowish price, I can see that even those slow to get technology, have already bought in.
Typed from my Fire HDX. Essentially a tiny computer. |

In any case, the tablet is proving itself useful--I needed an alarm clock away from my bed and I didn't want it to be my phone. Today was morning 1 of the rooster alarm via the crappy tablet. Thanks for the suggestion Conan! |

I really want to buy a new Fire, but what Amazon released this year had inferior resolution. The Tab S I bought, which I really didn't need, but wanted something that could access Google Play, wasn't really overshadowed with Costco's Black Friday offering this year. But I have to say, except for long, long episodes of Gummy Drop, I don't use my tablet all that much, as I went back to reading on my kindle PW.

I have a Galaxy tab S 8.4 I use for an eareader, Youtube and light Browsing.
Plus the family has a couple of older tablets for general browsing, email etc. I recently got a surface PC/tablet, which I use for light development work, as it has Windows 10. Both my kids recently got new netbooks (running Windows 10) for school, so they double up as tablets anyway. That's not even counting the several decent Android phones we have which have many uses, apart from being a phone. I'll be out of the tablet market for a few years now and I might not be buying an Android tablet at all again, as Windows tablets/PCs are pretty affordable now. Still, I love Android phones, but we all have those and we're good for a couple of years as well with them. Last edited by danskmacabre; 02-02-2016 at 06:28 PM. |

If the tablet allows it, the Pandora app can be stored on an sdcard, and a few other apps. If you have some digital music files you could play them off of a sdcard. Same with ebooks, you could use Moon+ or Fbreader and read the ebooks off of the card, but I'm guessing the screen might not be good for reading. They do make nice alarm clocks with big digital readouts ![]() |

How do you interpret a steep drop in sales as "THE END" ? I'd personally just interpret it as market saturation, but keep in mind that tablets also gained popularity VERY fast, and thus had to suffer from "Market Bubble-burst" at some point. |

Purchased a new iPad Pro and a used iPad Air 2 last year (2015). We don't normally upgrade until 2-3 newer ones come out. Both were an exception as 16GB on an iPad is no longer usable. We don't fill our machines with stuff but we had to remove quite a bit to upgrade. Plus iOS really needs at least 2-4GB memory nowadays.
