Kindle Voyage case options
I have a black ACcase, a z-map Fintie, and just got the Blue night Walnew.
[Image violates Posting Guidelines for size - MODERATOR] Of the three I like the Walnew the best, it appears to be the lightest and the best made of the three. Last edited by charlyee; 01-29-2016 at 10:31 AM. |

So I've read most of the thread, and have clicked countless links, and am just finding myself completely indecisive. I have for sure ordered a skin from DecalGirl. That's for the general upkeep/protection of the Voyage, and is due to the fact that I like to have my device "naked" sometimes.
With that preference, does anyone have any suggestions as to what a good case would be? Pretty much I'd like wake/sleep functionality and the ability to very easily and without *any* chance of damage (have seen ugly photos of gouges on some case reviews) shuck the case and just hold the Voyage whenever I'm in a "safe" location. (After all, in bed I'm not going to drop my Voyage on anything hard. Unless I'm reading erotica. Har har.) Thoughts? |

This thread is certainly useful in giving people options, even if it is quite a read. |

I also appreciate reviews of the options here.
I am using the cheapest Amazon origami cover and happy with it. I could wish it was lighter and thinner but then I'd be wishing for impossible magnets. I mostly desired the stand and open-to-turn-on function. It does those two things quite well. For protection, it still fits fine in the same inexpensive Wenger neoprene zippered sleeve I have been using for years now. |

I am still enjoying my OMOTON Kindle Voyage Cover (purchased November, 2014). It is light, but sturdy, has the magnet and folds back easily for reading. I didn't want the flip top. I often read lying on my side in bed, so it stands open perfectly for me without holding it.

I am not happy any more with mine. It worked good at first, but the hinge wore out pretty quick on the Omoton case - guess it is not meant to be folded back all the time. Now I frequently catch my Voyage already turned on with cover still closed since the magnet doesn't line up right. I am thinking to replace it with an origami cover which I should have gotten in the first place. And then I wish the auto wake feature can be turned off so I can keep the cover until it completely falls apart.

First impressions (I've had it for less than 24 hours) on the LE leather origami case is that it's awesome for what I wanted. I can shed the case very easily any time I want to go without (pretty much in bed, though when I'm in my hammock when we go camping will also qualify, since it's enclosed in netting) and I can put it back in quickly and easily when I want to move. No chance of damaging it from the swap. Wake/sleep with the case is flawless, of course.
The stand (landscape on my side or portrait on my chest) function works in bed, but because I wear glasses it's not really useful to me personally. (On my side the stem of my glasses digs into my head, and on my chest the Kindle isn't at a proper focal angle.) If I wore contacts or had good vision both methods would work just fine though. I like the looks of the cover, though I find it a bit less comfortable when I'm using it than holding the device naked. (Makes sense. Cases are mostly less comfortable but more protective.) That said, it's perfectly usable in the cover. The aesthetics of the LE leather are pleasing to me. It's not a case which remains "pristine" because the leather is exposed, but it's one which seems likely to show its wear as character, not damage. (The Warehouse Deal I got on the cover was fine, in my opinion. It came in a plastic baggie marked inspected, and had no visible issues with the non-leather parts, and just some minor scuffs on the leather. (Again, they look like character, not damage.) Important to note: if I shake the case the Kindle doesn't come flying out—if I grab the case by the flap, the Kindle doesn't come flying out. In short, the Kindle doesn't just fly out in spite of only being gripped by magnets. (There's a large number of people leaving reviews who complain that this happens. I have no idea what they're doing to cause that, because I literally could not replicate that in any way, in spite of being—in my estimation at least—way over the top in how vigorously I shook and grabbed at the cover. In other news: my wife finds the Voyage and case underwhelming. I didn't buy them for her though. ![]() Last edited by Mathew Reuther; 01-28-2016 at 05:03 PM. |

![]() That's pretty much how my wife reacted to my first Kindle even though she bought it for me. I am sure she will have the same reaction to my new Voyage, Tuesday delivery they say. I can't wait! |

I took advantage of the Amazon trade in program. Sent in a basic (5th edition) Kindle. Put the money towards a Voyage. So here I am with 41 pages to read in my quest for a case. There are sure a lot on the market.
To buy time I did the following. I had a Marware (What happened to them ?) for my basic. It's the type with the elastic corners, opens like a book. I cut a hole in the back for the power button. This case also has an elastic strap on the inside front cover to put your hand in with the cover folded back. I was able to slide a magnet behind the strap in the area of the Voyage sleep switch. Now the Voyage wakes up and sleeps with the cover open close. Very happy so far. Now I can take my time shopping for a new case. On to page one of this thread. |

I got my DecalGirl skin today and have it applied now. (My wife did it for me. She's all crafty and stuffs.) Somehow, in spite of the Kindle being clean, there are two dirt bumps on the back. Meh. Beyond that, the decal covers up the PagePress regions. (It doesn't stop you from being able to use them. It just obfuscates them, so you need to be aware by "feel" in order to use them properly. I've been using the Kindle for a few days and was easily able to make the transition to not being able to see the PagePress regions, so it's not hard.)
There's now zero issue with fingerprints on my Voyage though. I can rub on the decal and nothing happens. I'd imagine that even if I got something on it, it would probably wipe right off. Fits in my case exactly the same as it did before I applied the decal...overall I am fairly happy with the results, so the $17 it cost seems a decent investment. (Particularly because I tend to pull it out of the cover a lot, and the decal provides some basic protection.) This is the design I chose. The background is pretty subtle, but the crack in the planet is vivid and eye-catching. I like it. |

Has anyone used this Verso case?
http://www.amazon.com/Verso-Kindle-V...ds=voyage+case I'm a little worried about the review saying that the kindle constantly goes to sleep and wakes up while reading due to the covered power button. |

Oooo, that's *lovely*! I might even be tempted. I wonder if you could cut the button cover OFF, if yours is problematic? Only one person complained about it, mind you.
Ooooo - and then they show me this one (though it has NO cutout for the power button in back). It's still gorgeous, and tempting! http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0185WN664 Last edited by badgoodDeb; 02-03-2016 at 07:09 PM. |
