I have family in western central Jersey (think about 15 mins. east of New Hope, PA). They just called, and the snow in their driveway, and in the shared community parking (townhouse development) is up over the door handles on their cars. They are in a cul-de-sac, too, about...2 miles off the nearest highway/avenue/possible road that will get plowed anytime soon.

My sincere sympathies to all the east coast folks. Let's be honest. Even Canadians think 25 inches of snow in a day is a bit much. Not, unless you live in Toronto, probably enough to paralyze the city, but certainly enough to cause significant annoyance.

If I didn't need to get my son back to school from his winter break I'd just ride it out. I'll have the minivan dug out tomorrow, and the roads should be passable on Monday.

That's crap. I am still traumatised all these years later from leaving my Franklin reader on the train. What really p*ssed me off about it was I was in an empty carriage, when two middle aged men came on and sat directly opposite to me at my table, when they had the whole of the rest of the carriage to choose from. They then kept up a constant stream of conversation, stopping me from concentrating on my reading. I was in such a fluster that I moved, accidentally leaving my reader behind! See, it still rankles to this day

So angry. I just found out that my employer has been given an extension of until March 31 to mail employees their tax forms. I am in desperate, dire need of my refund.

Having grown up in central-west Wisconsin in the forties and fifties, all I have to say is meh, only two feet?

Now I live Hawaii and all I have to say is !

You know, you can file your return now, with your figures, if you know them. (Or ask your payroll dep't. or employer what they are in final.) Yes, you're supposed to have the tax form, but if your #'s are right, they won't nail you to the wall for it. You could also file the return, and then file an amended with the forms, when they come in.

The first few years I had contractors, I was ALWAYS late with the 1099's, but I gave everybody figures so they could file. Now, I'm right on it, but...that's how I know it CAN be done.

We had a meeting at the local Veteran's Center Saturday night and came across a cardboard box containing a dish of Cheerios and THIS:


I guess I need to give whoever abandoned them a little credit, at least they tried, but CHEERIOS?

At any rate, we took them home.

We stopped a Walmart for kitten formula, and were able to get a little into them. They're about ready to wean so we also got some Salmon pate, which when mixed with some milk they scoffed down; the grey and white more so than the tabby.

After a $170 trip to the Vet yesterday they were declared moderately healthy except for the tabby having a cold and a lacerated eyelid and cornea.

ARRRGH! We already have three cats and two dogs, so far their names are four and five, but we don't know which is which. Anybody want a kitty?

You are truly a good person - for rescuing these poor waifs - rather than dumping them into the 'system' - very much.

Indeed, I agree completely. And I'd happily take them both off wodin's hands, but the transfer of ownership might be just a bit onerous. Though goodness knows I need a couple more cats - only the one currently, and she's past her mousing days...
