I've been reading (and quite enjoying) the Victorian mysteries (Limehouse 1880s) starring Kitty Peck written by Kate Griffin. Kitty Peck and the Music Hall Murders and Kitty Peck and the Child of Ill Fortune.

Kate Griffin is the pseudonym of Catherine Webb: author ofthe Sam Linnifer series of children's/teen books. She's also written urban fantasy (The Matthew Swift series) under the Griffin pseudonym, as well as several stand-alone books (such as The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August) under the pseudonym of Claire North. I've been quite impressed with her talent and versatility.

NOTE: books written under the Griffin/North pseudonyms are not childrens books

I got 7% into it and then realized that I'd not yet read the newest Nikki Heat novel , so began reading Driving Heat (Nikki Heat #7) by Richard Castle. It's pretty likely that I'll actually finish reading this one!

Driving Heat was a really exciting and entertaining read! The books in this series just keep getting better and better.

Next, I've borrowed The Flower-Covered Corpse (Ed Noon #19) by Michael Avallone as my January selection from the Amazon lending library.

Yes, highly recommended. Originally published by TOR in 2000, but available at the author's website under a Creative Commons licence since 2007.

Next up: Analog SF, March 2016.

I've read the Tall Dolores (Ed Noon #1), and enjoyed it. Will definitely continue with the series.

Currently reading White Trash Zombie Gone Wild by Diana Rowland. Harmless zombie fun .

It seems I may have been all wet about this. Apparently Kitty Peck Kate Griffin is not Catherine Webb/Claire North Kate Griffin. I really hate pseudonyms sometimes.

The Flower-Covered Corpse was another good read from Michael Avallone!

And now back to finish Away With The Fairies from Kerry Greenwood!

Just finished "Traitor's Purse", by Margery Allingham. This is the 11th book in the "Campion" series, and was originally published in 1941.

Campion wakes up in hospital with amnesia, not even knowing his own name, but knowing that he has to complete a task vital to the war effort with a very tight deadline. Can he discover what he needs to do, and complete his mission?

Excellent book. As with all the "Campion" books, more of a thriller than a traditional detective story. Highly recommended.

Finished Naero's Run on Wednesday. A pretty good space opera with a teenaged female protagonist. (Not as good as the Kris Longknife or Esmay Suiza series by Mike Shepherd and Elizabeth Moon, respectively.) I will definitely read the next in the series, but for now I've plunged into The Sin Eater's Daughter. It's absolutely fantastic! Thanks to whomever mentioned/recommended it. (I'm sure I heard about it here at MobileRead.)

Finished Rhodes and then went straight to Chios (#6) to finish the series. While I thought it was ok and decently researched, I discovered I don't care for the serial format. I prefer a complete novel all at once. Both rated C [3 stars].

Next, a free story, The Planet Savers by Marion Zimmer Bradley.

Overall, a good issue.
