I wouldn't buy laptops straight from sony,since you can easily shave off 25-35% of their salesprice by buying it in another (online) store.

The $100 makes most sense for the 700.

You can only get the $100 offset for the exchange and purchase of the PR505 and not for the 700.

You're both right, on different $100 savings.

This thread talks of two $100 deductions: 1) trade-in the 500, and 2) $100 off when you use your new Sony Visa Card for $299 or greater purchase by such-and-such date.

Speaking of the trade-in, the offer is expiring at the end of the month. I like my PRS-500, but the battery charge is very low now and I don't feel like switching the battery using the semi-complicated process. It would be nice to upgrade to the 505, albeit at a couple hundred dollars even with the trade-in. Any thoughts on whether to take advantage of it?

If you've got the money, go for it. $200 is pretty cheap.
