Repeating it again for the next reading session or taking more screenshots e.g. 100-200 for several reading sessions in advance. At the end of the book he can delete all those images or create pdf/epub therefrom (for his own usage, law permitting) e.g. 50 MB or 5 MB ocr-ed pdf instead of 500 MB screenshots. Since the OP has a Kobo reader, it would be much simpler just to buy books from Kobo or another store that sells epubs, such as Google Play. |

One would point out that Amazon does the same, you can only read it on their toys unless you remove the DRM (and yes, you can remove DRM from ebooks purchased from Apple). Some books do not have DRM, on Amazon and on Apple. Other ebook sales use a common DRM method which allows you to read on an ebook reader that supports that particular DRM method. You really shouldn't pretend that Apple is different simply because you don't like them.

Google "apple ebook drm removal" . There are several links that describe how it's done and point you to the software to purchase. The company is legit. I've been using their iTunes movie DRM removal software for a number of years. I can't say that I've bought a lot of ebooks from Apple. I tend to buy more from Amazon, but it's always nice to have options. I won't go into more details unless the moderator says I can name the company. |

Thanks. I really wasn't aware of that. I only knew about Requiem, which according to all sources stopped working quite a while back. Never put much effort into finding iBooks DRM removal, since I don't buy from them.
I still see a difference though between DRM that is removable with free open source software, and one you have to buy proprietary software for. |

There is a reason that the first thing that I do when I buy an ebook or movie is to remove the DRM. |

http://www.gutenberg.org/ http://www.feedbooks.com/ (very good book layout) Also, Amazon and Kobo, and possibly others, have a lot of free books. Those are the ones in public domain (no copyright anymore), or the ones given away by the author as advertisements for other books, often in a series. Most copyrighted books have DRM; either Amazon's or Adobe's (most EPUB stores use this). There are DRM removal tools available that can be installed in the e-book library program called Calibre. If you do, DRM will be removed as soon as you import it into Calibre (after buying the book using the normal buying procedure; this does not work for protected books you may... 'find'... on the internet). Of course there are also sellers that don't use DRM, even for copyrighted books. Baen and Tor Books are two of them. The 'whispering' is caused because of the fact that in many countries DRM removal is illegal. MobileRead does not want to get into trouble and face the possibility to be sued and shut down due to providing direct instructions on how to remove DRM. Thus, you will only find links to and references to someone known 'Apprentice Alf', and since some time, 'Apprentice Harper'. They are the maintainers of the DRM removal tools that plug into Calibre. (They don't come with Calibre by default, because Calibre needs to be available and downloadable in the countries where DRM removal is illegal.) Here is everything we are allowed to tell you: Kindle for PC Adobe Digital Editions version 1.7.x or 2.x (NOT 3.x or 4.x) Calibre Apprentice Alf / "The Tools" Apple DRM has not been cracked; avoid iBooks (edit: according to pwalker8, it's possible now. If it is, I don't know about it. Still, I wouldn't buy anything from Apple anyways.) Install them and buy books. On importing them into Calibre, the DRM will be removed. Just HOW to install and configure the DRM-part is up to you to figure out. As explained above, we're not allowed to tell you that at this site. Google it ![]() Good luck ![]() Last edited by Katsunami; 01-17-2016 at 11:55 AM. |

I have to question the accuracy of describing a company who sells DRM removal software as being "legit." Clearly there's a lot of grey area in the legality of DRM removal itself, but the production/distribution of software that achieves it is straddling the line (if not over it) in many jurisdictions. Charging money for such a product puts them squarely on the wrong side of the law in most jurisdictions.
