Writing documentation is hard. You're welcome to improve upon that, the wiki is here for just that. Barring that, I'm always open to constructive criticism, the initial post has been revised many, many, many times to address concerns raised on the forum.
If you want heavily biased and targeted writing, look at the (K5) Fonts hack post. That one is a doozy, by design ![]() In the mean time, unless you have specific, targeted questions, I'm afraid we can't do much better than what's already there. Because much of what we tend to do is, unfortunately, repeating the exact same thing over and over again. Which is why there's a FAQ, and a FGA, because it gets a little bit tiring after a while ![]() And, yeah, surprisingly enough, better documentation helped, tremendously. Funny, that. I'm not saying everything is perfect, but without better feedback than something that, to say things bluntly, feels like it amounts to "wah, wah, I don't understand", well, we can't do miracles. The steps are marked in bright red. There are four links, download the attachments in those links. Each respective resource has its own installation notes, and you are welcome to ask for clarification in their respective threads. You haven't said what it is that you don't understand. You keep saying you are "struggling", though. That's a nice info-dump there. Now we know you are struggling, yay, that clarifies things... Unfortunately, if you don't tell us what you think you do and do not understand, we certainly cannot clarify anything. Because **we** have no idea where we may be falling short. And you aren't telling us which steps, if any, are causing you troubles. You haven't indicated which links you may or may not have followed, nor what YOU have done to try and figure things out. You appear to be more interested in complaining and offering snide remarks about our respective egos than engaging in a constructive discussion about how to accomplish your goals. "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink"... I am done here... |

We can not help people who only tell us: "My Kindle is broke".
Nor can we help people who only tell us: "Your documentation doesn't work for me". As a published author, self-proclaimed to be an expert at written communication, no one here should have to point those things out to you. Now do your part and tell us what you have done and what specific thing you are struggling with. STOP at the very first thing you have a problem with. Do not make it harder on yourself by trying to continue past the first problem. We will hold your hand through this if you make it possible. If English is not your native language, let us know, we can probably help with that also. = = = = Trivia: View the thread index page. Note the number of views (360,000 plus). In the "number of posts" column, click the number. Note the number of posters with 12 or less posts to the thread (250 people needing help of about 275). That is 1/1000 of the users that have a problem with the directions. Most of whom had their problem answered in very few posts (the median is far less than 12 - by inspection, I didn't compute it). Q.E.D: Our directions are not as bad in general as they seem to be to you. Last edited by knc1; 01-13-2016 at 03:14 AM. |

@OP: You have done nothing more, so far, than saying that instructions are hard and confusing. Why don't you at least try? eschwartz has posted three links with the instructions. Just pick up the first, read it on, stop as soon as you don't understand ANY line, copy the line and paste it here adding what you find confusing. People will help. But you have to be a little more specific than "Everything it's hard". Give them a starting point. Oh, and a more polite and nicer attitude wouldn't hurt, too. I saw knc1 getting fired up for much less in the past... |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I gave up again. The techno-jargon is too damn confusing. I still have NO DAMN idea exactly which programs I am suppose to use with what other particular programs. Maybe I'll try again in another 6 months. Still just DAMN UPSET I still cannot use the hundreds of screensavers I made, no thanks to Amazon, and little thanks to MobileRead. ![]() Last edited by eschwartz; 01-24-2016 at 01:17 AM. |

And that answer manages to be even *more* unhelpful than your previous ones in pointing you in the right direction, that takes effort, congrats!

Since it is obvious that you do NOT understand the problem I am having -- even though I explained it carefully and in great detailed in my first post here and again in my second one -- why don't you, NiLuJe, just stop replying to my posts. Thanks. . . . |

I even gave you pretty clear directions -- download these four files and install them in order, ask on the linked threads if you have trouble with any specific step. You have not done so. You have not absorbed the information that anyone has posted, and while you may have been detailed, you gave all the wrong details. Maybe I should put on my official moderator hat and tell you to stop spamming us with baseless complaints that lack information and provide no help to either you or us. Because it seems clear that the current conversation is doing nothing but fooling people via the New Posts indicator into thinking that something interesting happened. [redacted quote because I thought better of it -- eschwartz]
The term: "Boston Polar" can refer to winter events of the Special Olympics, held in Boston, Massachusetts. Special Olympics, Massachusetts provides programs for people with intellectual disabilities. Ref: https://www.specialolympicsma.org/what-we-do/ @BostonPolar: Nobody here is prepared to deal with a person having intellectual disabilities any better than what we already have done above. Please take your device to a local person or shop that can fix it for you. Last edited by eschwartz; 01-24-2016 at 01:57 AM. |

@knc1 -- I should probably not have said "that", but considering the direction this conversation was going in, I *may* have said something I didn't really mean to.

Taking your quote out was up to you. Taking out my background information leaves my post read as if it is 'name calling'. Please, either put back the background paragraph or get rid of the entire post. |
