The second half didn't quite live up to the first half, but I'm looking forward to the next in the series.

Next up: My oldest unread bought ebook, Evermore by Modean Moon. This was a three book bundle from Baen Ebooks back in 2007.

So far it seems to be just a supernatural romance. Readable, but not what I'm really interested in. I'll see how it goes, but I think I'll be skipping the other two unless I get hooked by the characters.

Now reading The Untouchable by John Banville. I'm quite enjoying this one. About a quarter done.

I'm in the midst of Origins of the Specious: Myths and Misconceptions of the English Language by Patricia T. O'Conner.

I am a big fan of the English language, being an amateur writer and heavy reader that I am (and considering it's the only language I know well enough to hold a conversation in...), so these kinds of books are really up my alley.

At any rate, this is a nice palate cleanser before diving back into the sordid affairs of all people, places and things fictional, factual and historical (much history is mere fantasy, after all ).

After this, it may be Washington's Dirigible, or The Prophecy Con, though at the moment I'm feeling in the mood of something more suspenseful...

Sounds very interesting. Next on my list. BTW, have you read Bill Bryson's The Mother Tongue? This is his history of the English language and I found it very interesting. Read it and you will learn the single most understood word in the world; spoken in every language in every country.

I think what keeps me going particularly is to find out her take on what "really" happened at the historical events they visit. I was particularly intrigued by her version of what happened at the siege of Troy, and the facts behind the Trojan Horse myth. I want to believe it, even though I know it's only fiction (faction?).

Yes, I have it in electronic format. I also have two copies in dead-tree format of The Madman and the Professor and I thought I had but can't find a History of the English Language which was damn interesting to me.

However, since I just looked that title up in Amazon, (and I have no idea why this showed up in the search results, but) I just found The Hittites: The Lost Empire of the Ancient World, for $0.99 which, at 59 pages can't be really that comprehensive, but still looks interesting enough and may feed into my research for a story I've been developing.

I'm currently reading Warrior by Nick Webb, second book in his Legacy Fleet series. I borrowed it from Amazon via the Kindle Unlimited program. Sadly, there isn't a book 3 (yet?). Also listening to Peter and the Sword of Mercy by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. I have about 3 hours of the 11 yet to listen.

This is a fun series about time-travelling historians who go back to significant events in history to chronicle what really happened. Inevitably, their trips do not go as smoothly as planned and they get embroiled in the action, sometimes with tragic consequences.
Love this series! I've read every one. (I think there are currently six, plus a few short stories and an audio SS.) She really needs to write faster... I just checked and she has a new one coming out in May (MAY???? Oh well; at least it's coming). Great news.

I just finished Elizabeth George's "A Banquet of Consequences" and really liked it. First time I read her (it's a book club selection) but will definitely read more. It was a little daunting at almost 600 pages, and slow at first, but picked up steam and I read it pretty quickly.

Currently reading "Let the Devil Sleep" by John Verdon. Only about 10% into this mystery, but enjoying it thus far.

A paranormal romance. Well written, and it held my attention, but I'm not really interested in reading any more of them, so I've discarded the other two.

Next up: F&SF, Jan/Feb 2016.

I have really been enjoying this series. As stated earlier I like how the author as put in about Hurricane Katrina. I feel like the author was mean/abusive towards one character in the story. The character is not a 'size 8' like the other characters and the author has this character in flowery house dresses. Even though this character is suppose to have money. Seems like with money this character would be dressed a whole lot nicer. Granted it may be because the character is a very mean witch with a big B. The one drawback for me as a reader is that the author makes reference to this characters weight. I personally felt this was wrong. I really loved the pirate treasure search in book 6.

I will be skipping over book 8 Fiber and Brimstone because it is only available as print. Also waiting on my library to get this in print. Maybe this book and book 4 will arrive at the same time.
Okay a laugh for everyone the library got back Fiber and Brimstone so I checked it out. Still waiting on Motif for Murder and the person who helped me told me the day before I put a hold on that book the person who borrowed it renewed the check out for an additional 35 days so it might be a while before I get to that book. Now for the laugh. I was reading Fiber and Brimstone and I was 2 or 3 pages in to the book. I tapped the side of the page instead of turning the page. I guess I have read to long on my Kindle. lol

I have gotten to book 11 Gilt Trip in this series and about half way finished. I am really enjoying this series. I will probably never make it down to New Orleans so this series has been a treat for me. I love most all the characters and the plot is great. I highly recommend this author and this series.

LOL... been there, done that. Do it on websites on the phone, too. Why won't this work?

I read Washington's Dirigible by John Barnes, though I am still in the midst of Origins of the Specious; I may try The Oddfits next... one of the freebies of the month for January.

I got my PRS505 out to read the latest Tom Keller book 'Not Just Another Fae (Vegas Fae Stories Book 4)' and found myself trying to swipe the pages - it takes a little while to get used to each readers (or book) little quirks

Finished Warrior. Sadly, I will have to wait for the third book in the series to be published. Now reading Persuader by Lee Child, 7th book in his Jack Reacher series. I picked it up as a Kindle freebie back in 2009, but I'm a stickler for reading series books in order, so I'm just now getting around to reading it.
