[Glo HD] Another series question (sorry)
Hi everyone, I've actually tried to read up on this but I'm unable to find a solution so far, so please bear with me
![]() I'm having some trouble getting series to work in my collections. I'm using the KoboUtilities plugin on calibre and while I can get series information to actually show up and shelves to be formed as I add series, I can't seem to get the order of the books right. I understand this was broken in an update some time ago from Kobo's end, has there been any workaround thus far? I'm aware that I can change the title of the book (e.g. Mistborn 01 or something like that) using a plugboard, but short of doing that, is there any other way to get the order right? Thanks! EDIT: I should probably add that I've tried changing the sort to author and date added, but the end result is still the same with the books out of order. The standard approach is to use a metadata plugboard to massage the book's title to include the series info. I for instance prepend an abbreviation of the series name and the series index, so for instance O - 01 - Outlander for the first book in the Outlander series, or HP - 03 - Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Is there no other working method at the moment? I don't mind changing the book titles using a plugboard, but it wouldn't be my first preference to do so since I'm not a huge fan of how it makes the title look

There is no other way. I've been begging Kobo for series sorting or a series view of some sort for a long time. Or even just fixing the "Date Added" sorting.

My preferred choice is to use the calibre plugboard to add abbreviated series info to the end of the Author field rather than to the beginning of the Title field, e.g.
Author: Martin, George RR - ASOIAF 01 Title: A Game of Thrones This has the advantage that I can sort Kobo book lists and Collections by Author and get all my books in Author/Series sequence. Plus the Kobo's Author field has a smaller font size than the Title field so it doesn't look quite so clunky. ETA: I guess this wouldn't work so well if you like to create Collections by Author, which I don't. I only use Genre info for Collections. Last edited by jackie_w; 01-12-2016 at 07:07 PM. |

It shouldn't affect it. The collections are based on the metadata in the calibre library, not what's in the books or on the device.
